Comment: A book which is in good overall condition. This means that it will be largely free of page markings, the spine will still be in solid, tight condition and there will be no pages which are missing from the book. The pages may have slightly turned corners but overall the book should be clean to touch and enjoyable to read.

An interesting guide which takes some of the mystery out of the world of property auctions.
Whether you are looking to buy a new home for yourself, or purchase property to develop/let, this book clearly illustrates the pros and cons of buying at auction. It assumes no previous knowledge of the subject and presents a clear step by step guide to what happens both before and after the auction.
The author is clearly well versed in the world of auctioneering. He does an excellent job of explaining the auction process and exposes tactics used by auctioneers and bidding strategies.

If you are considering, toying with the idea of buying at auction you MUST HAVE THIS BOOK IT IS THE ONLY ONE YOU NEED. The book covers all subjects in depth without blinding the reader with too much information, from how the auctioneer portrays himself at auction to the financial side to completing the sale.
I was only toying with the idea a few weeks ago and now am on my to making the dream come true!!!

I found this book as a basic one for buying property in auctions. I found this is the basic for build a strategy and a business plan. No doubt you cannot start to invest in auctions without this book. One of the best so far I read, you can avoid gross mistakes and you can save thousands in auctions and avoiding pitfalls. One of the most interesting list is the list of auctioneers as well as the details of organizing a business plan before the auction, have ready the bank in your side, the valuation, the project and the survey, read it, it is fantastic, you cannot ask really more for the price.

This book gives a good overview of the basics, but can get a bit repetitive. It also needs updating for the fact that most auction catalogues, etc are published online so all the stuff about doing research using telephone directories, etc is a bit dated.

The chapter on financing is a bit weak and lacks the real detail that you will need on sources of finance, likely costs of specialist auction financing, feasibility of arranging a standard mortgage in time, etc, etc

I read this book in one day and was SO pleased I'd read the other reviews and bought it immediately. There's no wasted space here - just lots of really useful information, written by someone who really knows what they're talking about.
After reading it, I'd feel pretty confident about buying at auction - he even explains the rather scary bidding process!

This is certainly worth buying if you are a novice at Auctions and will avoid you making basic errors and looking a fool.

I still think I will need an "expert" with me before committing big funds, but certainly this book gives a number of helpful tips and info on what to look for and where to start.

I had been thinking of buying a property at auction, in the hope of picking up a bargain. But my hopes will soon become reality, as the information in this book has given me the confidence to give it a go. Mr Gooddie is an expert in his particular field of endeavour.
