Whether you are looking to buy a new home for yourself, or purchase property to develop/let, this book clearly illustrates the pros and cons of buying at auction. It assumes no previous knowledge of the subject and presents a clear step by step guide to what happens both before and after the auction.
The author is clearly well versed in the world of auctioneering. He does an excellent job of explaining the auction process and exposes tactics used by auctioneers and bidding strategies.
I was only toying with the idea a few weeks ago and now am on my to making the dream come true!!!
The chapter on financing is a bit weak and lacks the real detail that you will need on sources of finance, likely costs of specialist auction financing, feasibility of arranging a standard mortgage in time, etc, etc
After reading it, I'd feel pretty confident about buying at auction - he even explains the rather scary bidding process!
I still think I will need an "expert" with me before committing big funds, but certainly this book gives a number of helpful tips and info on what to look for and where to start.

If you don't have a clue about property auctions this might be a little bit useful. If you have some basic knowledge this is not going to help you.Published on 11 Feb. 2013 by malcrider

Generally good although a bit repetitive. The anecdotes do seem a bit outdated and no dates given to help give context to buying and selling prices. Read morePublished on 22 Dec. 2012 by Curlygirl
