I started by adding it, about 1-2 tablespoons to pasta sauces (to feed a family of 5) and to soups. As the linseed flour is tasteless the meals went down with no complaints! The only difference I noticed was a richer and thicker consistency. I personally prefer this but can easily be remedied by adding a little more water to dilute it out.
I also add it to flour when making pizza dough or apple pie. The important thing is not to put too much in as this product- linseeds - are extremely potent.
My friend is on a low carbs diet and was struggling to get her fibre intake, hence resulting in constipation. I advised her to add some linseed flour or linseeds to her diet, as linseeds are naturally very low in carbs. She has found it fantastic. Her problems have improved as has weight as she found it easier tovstickbto the diet.
It is essential that when using high fibre products that you drink plenty of fluids, about 3-4 glasses per day otherwise you can get constipated.
I would highly recommend this product.
Eaten on its own, it tastes like the husk you get on pistachios. Not bad, but not amazing. But what is good is that it's fairly bland and can be added to foods such as chilli, curries etc without affecting the taste.
In addition, if you just want some fibre without adding to a full meal, I like using some low carb peanut butter (you can get this from some major supermarkets; it's not marketed as low carb, but just look at the nutritional information) and mixing the linseed in with it and it's tastes great.
