Product description

Raw Organic Cacao Powder - Premium Quality. Our cacao powder are of Creole variety, and from Peru. Creole variety is called "The Queen of Cacao" as it produces the highest grade beans. Creole cacao is an ancient variety, non-hybrid, produces "fine and flavor" beans, are the scarcest, most expensive and the most highly regarded for their complex flavour and aroma. Only a fraction of world cocoa production comes from Creole trees, as they are delicate, low producers and susceptible to certain disease.

Cocoa powder comes from cocoa beans. Does it mean that you can ground the cocoa beans or cocoa nibs to obtain the cocoa powder? The answer is no. In fact it is made by extracting the cocoa butter from the cocoa bean, then drying the residue and grinding it to a fine powder. Of course, chocolate is made from cocoa beans as well.

Cocoa powder is in dark brown colour. It tastes a little bitter when raw, but brings a good chocolate flavour to the desserts, cakes and biscuits it is mixed into. Cocoa powder can be used on its own or in tandem with pieces of cooking chocolate to bring a rich chocolate flavour to cooking. Use cocoa powder to make chocolate crepes, muffins, cakes, biscuits, icings and toppings.

Excellent and much better than the dark cocoa powder you can buy, this is smooth and really tasty, arrived well packaged

Good product that arrived on time and has been exactly as described by the seller. I gave the product 4 starts, however because it is not 'fair trade', which suggests that in the production of this cacao, people have been very poorly treated.

Delicious, fresh, flavoursome. I use it in my smoothies and home-made chocolate. It definitely has a richer, fuller taste than conventional cocoa powder when it's used in desserts, and it is choc-full of nutrients and anti-oxidants. Even if you're not on a raw-food diet, I'd recommend this over conventional cocoa powder - which tends to taste a bit bland and bitter by comparison.

Love it. I like to bake healthy treats for my kids so I use a lot of cocoa powder. I normally use green&blacks which is expensive so I thought I'd try this. Was pleasently surprised. Very good value for money and isn't as bitter as green&blacks. Will defo purchase again.

I've tried out quite a few cacao (I just call it cocoa) powders now and I've noticed that the raw cocoa always has a slight bitter taste to it while the natural cocoa has not. Home-ground raw cocoa nibs are even more bitter. This cocoa however is not bitter at all and tastes just like natural cocoa! As you may know, natural cocoa has been roasted whereas raw cocoa is not heated above 45 degrees so many of the compounds are not denatured. So if you are like me and use bitterness as an indicator of genuine raw cocoa then this product will disappoint you.

This cacao tastes really lovely in hot milk (only slightly bitter) . I bought it because I wanted the nutritional benefits. I have never tasted raw cacao before so I have nothing to compare it with, however it is a lot less bitter and tastes nicer than bournvilles Cocoa powder -which I would find difficult to drink without sugar .
