I randomly stumbled across Bust A Move whilst trying to find something to
get my sister for her birthday. I ended up getting two because I wanted to
keep one for myself! I'm not really much of a dancer, but it's just so fun
to read. I love all the dances from the 1950s, because no-one teaches you
how to do them these days (unless you're willing to put Hairspray on loop).
We have a 70s night on once a month at our local pub so I'll see if I feel
brave enough to pull out the Saturday Night Fever routine (though I'll
probably need a couple of pints first!).

I even gave the book to my niece (she's 8) and she spent the afternoon
teaching my six-year-old nephew how to do the moonwalk. It was so cute, and
a great way to keep the kids occupied for a while! It's probably the first
time we've all sat down and done something together. Not that any of us were
sitting down, come to think of it (including my dad!?!).

I'd definitely recommend this book if you're wondering what on earth to get
someone who's impossible to buy for. It doesn't matter whether you're a
complete novice (like me) or an absolute pro-it's a great little stocking
filler for anyone this Christmas. I love it! Bust A Move: Dance Crazes Through the Ages

'Dance crazes through the ages' - this book does exactly what it says on the tin. I've never really seen anything like this before (it's not really something that I would ever pick up), but I must say that I'm very happy with my purchase. It's all in full colour, and you get a lovely little package for your money, especially when it's so cheap on Amazon. I've not actually tried to learn any of the dances yet, but I have enjoyed flicking through and I've picked up enough music trivia to survive a round on Never Mind The Buzzcocks. You probably wouldn't read it cover to cover, but it's a good chance to reminisce (macarena, timewarp) and to find out about some dances that were a bit before my time (mashed potato, the bunny hop). Plus it's funny to think that the new dance crazes from the 00s will seem really retro in a few years to come (will we remember soulja boy in 2020?). Great for if you're looking for something a bit different.

This book is great for learning new moves to impress your mates on a night out or for someone younger who can learn to dance for the first time. I bought it to try and improve because the only moves I knew before were the robot, the moonwalk and the rope pull. Having read this book I now have around 20 dances I can pull out on the dancefloors of places like Oceana and Yates on a Friday night and they never fail to impress. This is suitable for men and women of any age and if a new edition ever comes out I'd be sure to pick that up as well. This is really good value for money and highly recommended.

What a cool little book! As well as the glitter ball on the front cover (which is great for a sparkle queen like me!) it's full of dance moves and outfits from those good old disco days, a great nostalgia trip. Me and my friends have been trying to do the step-by-step moves - hilarious! Definitely not Strictly Come Dancing standard I'm afraid, but we're getting there. All in all, a great fun book, perfect Christmas present/secret santa or gift for anybody that likes to dance.
