How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Thank goodness we had one of these at hand when my son poured hot water over his stomach. Minimised his burn and pain was reduced.

This is an excellent product for burns and made a massive difference when I spilled cooking oil on my arm and when my child got burned by a hot towel rail. I always make sure I have a few in the first aid box.

every home should have these available- the product line was recommended to me by NHS nurses who treated me for a moderate burn to my thumb (using this product (specifically HYDROGEL) although I'm not entirely sure if it was the same brand if that makes a difference to anyone) I can say since that happened 2 years ago I have kept this product at hand in my kitchen (and near my hair straighteners!) at all times, it's been used by myself and friends and every time it's been applied to even the smallest of burns it has been greatly appreciated by all!
Takes the heat out of the burn almost immediately, (Burnshield HYDROGEL then apply this dressing) and from what I was told by the nurses that I had previously seen, it stops the burn penetrating further under the skin.
I wouldn't rely solely on this (or any other product) for anything more than a minor burn as I'm not a medical professional- however- I do think it could help tremendously in the interim period between a more severe burn happening and receiving medical treatment, should you choose to go to a hospital.
Another point to mention is that my university first aid office does not carry a single product to help deal with any type of burns. (!) I understand that this is the norm in most first aid stations (due to health and safety regulations ironically) so it really helps to carry these individual sachets somewhere in your bag, if the unfortunate situation should occur to you or anyone around you.
Thank you burn shield!

This is a fantastic product!
Place the burn under cool running water then...
Ensure you get all the gel out of the Burnshield packet and onto your burn. Place the square over the burn, and it will absorb the heat. Once that side has warmed up turn it over and it continues to cool and absorb the heat out of the burn. Continue flipping this square as the burn starts to warm the gel and the opposite side air cools.
I first came across this product on a Virgin Trains, where their staff have them for the rare occasions that tea and coffee spillages happen whilst travelling at 125mph.
Any product by Burnshield I would buy.
I keep my burnshields in the fridge where they are cool and the whole family know where they are. And the most likely area where a burn might occur.
We have most of the sizes “just in case”.

HALL OF FAME
These packs, each containing a single square of hydrocolloid type dressing measuring about 4" x 4" are ideal for dressing burns or scalds. Best way to treat a scald or burn is to immediately run the area under cold, running water for ten minutes, or apply a pack of frozen peas over a wet cloth to the burn for ten minutes. Getting the area thoroughly cooled as soon as possible is essential. Then dry the area gently and apply the dressing. This dressing is quite wet and gunky, but it will sit nicely over the burn. If it folds up, or crumples, it's easy to straighten out. Over that, put some gauze, and secure with a bandage. As it's a very wet dressing, it will probably leak or drip through the gauze or bandage. If it does, and it's a nuisance, wrap some cling film round the bandage to stop the drips.
These are nice, easy to use dressings for home use on typical minor household burns and scalds, and do give some relief.
Get a few packs in before you need them. The burnshield spray is a very useful piece of kit as well.

Burn Gel should be a standard item in every decent first aid kit. These are a good size dressing with enough gel to be useful. Cheap and take up little room.

I had brought this for my first aid box at home some time ago. I recently had the need to use it when a bottle of boiled water exploded over me. I ripped open the packaging and applied straight away to the burn. I left it on for a few hours and yes, I have a slight scar but I cannot tell you how happy i was that i had this! It helped to soothe the pain but most importantly it helped control the burn. I know it could have been a whole lot worse if I had not had and used the burnshield burn dressing. I have now brought 2 more to replace the one I used.

Bought this product some time ago...having very recently burned myself through my own negligence this is the first time I have had the opportunity to review the item. In my personal experience this is the best product for dealing with a minor burn. Having submerged the injury to my hand in cold water for 12 minutes I applied the dressing and covered it as per the detailed instructions. Within 24 hours the burn had healed and scarring was minimal. I do not hesitate to recommend the product and I am buying more for both my home and outdoor med packs. I have no connection with the producer or distributor of this item other than as a customer, nor was any review requested by the seller or manufacturer. Sad that I have to make that statement but necessary nowadays.
