When intelligence agencies need to dispense with one of their spies they serve a burn notice. A burn notice informs other agencies that the spy has become unreliable, effectively ending his or her career. Burn Notice follows Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan), whose intelligence career comes to an abrupt halt after a botched job in Nigeria. Westen returns home to Miami, Florida, only to discover that he has been cut off from all his contacts in the agency and his bank account has been frozen. Without a penny to his name, Westen decides to work as an unlicensed private investigator, using the money he makes to launch his own investigation into his fate with the intelligence agency. Westen's new career presents him with plenty of opportunities to delve into Miami's seedy underbelly, with drug dealers, gunrunners, prostitution rings, and gangsters all coming under his watchful eye. This title features the complete fourth series of the show.

Burn Notice is the story of a C.I.A. spy who gets fired and left without support, he gets a "Burn Notice"
Whilst he tries to find out what has happened he has time on his hands and so gets sucked into helping people with desperate problems
using all of his spy craft.
He is assisted by a reformed I.R.A. terrorist Fiona, (Also his girlfriend) and a former Navy Seal Sam Axe.
The show is genuinely funny with clever stories plus the ongoing drive to find out why he was fired.
Burn Notice is well written and Jeffrey Donovan is charismatic as Michael.
A group of spies based in Miami that help out a needy person each episode, often with some interesting tricks and occasionally rigging up some impromptu spy gadgets to get away with things.
While each episode has a "cause of the week" there is also an overarching story which ties the entire season together.
This season sees a new face helping out the usual team and some interesting plot developments about who burned Michael.
As usual Miami is a fantastic location to set the show in. The action is fun and a little over the top (in the good way) and the team are portrayed well and enjoyably written. A lighthearted show that you shouldn't miss.
Series four is still a refreshing and at times surprisingly tense take on character based comedy spy thriller shenanigans.
Too late to return because by the time you notice this the date for return has expired.
This season finds a big shake up to the cast. Yes, Michael (Jeffrey Donovan) is still the main character. When he gets in situations that are over his head, he still calls on former girlfriend and gun dealer Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) and ex-seal Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell). His mom Madeline (Sharon Gless) is even still around to drive him crazy. So what's the change? They've added Jesse (Coby Bell) to the team. In the season 4 premier, Michael is trying to get some information for the puppet masters that burned him (so he can use it against them) and inadvertently burns Jesse in the process. So Jesse joins their team, all the time vowing to take down the person who burned him, not knowing its Michael.
Even given this extra character, the setup of each episode is pretty much the same. There's a case of the week that Michael is reluctantly drawn in to. They help a lawyer targeted for death by a biker gang. Michael and Sam get taken hostages while trying to help a conned man get his money back. A clinic doctor is harassed by drug dealers. Fiona and a client's wife get kidnapped. Michael even goes to prison to help a man escape before he is murder.
But each episode also continues the overall storyline. This season, Michael is closing in on a list of those who burned him, but he's in a race for that list with some very bad people.Read more ›
