About the Author

Dr. Sairah Qureshi, author of "School Bullying and Racist Bullying; Who are the Victims" earned her PhD in the UK, November 2011. Her research focused on school bullying and racist bullying, via obtaining the perceptions of young people interviewed. Adapted from her thesis, this exciting new book is unique from other studies as it offers the reader an analysis of all on school bullying and racism. Particularly, it examines bullying from a social psychological as well as socio-economic theoretical perspective, and explains the causes of bullying as per the individual psychological background and due to the socio-economic environment. It addresses why bullying and racist bullying occurs and how it is manifested around the school environment. Dr. Qureshi has lectured and conducted extensive public outreach work in her specialist research area and is currently developing training modules largely in anti-bullying for schools. She acts as Residential Consultant Expert in anti-bullying for the Downtown Manhattan Community Board, and lives in New Jersey with her husband.

Format: Paperback
This book is very well written with all the passion and diligence by Dr. Sairah Qureshi. It is evident that Dr. Qureshi has spent a great deal of time and effort with writing this book as the research clearly shows how zealous she is about her field. This book should be instrumental in fixing the problems that our society is facing at epidemic proportions especially in schools and colleges. This book reviews the comprehensive examination on all kind of issues including but not limited to individual bullying, group bullying, cyber bullying, and all indirect forms of bullying as well as racism/racist bullying. I would definitely recommend this book to the Department of Education, school principals and teachers, parents, educators as well as researchers.

Being a teacher for a high school, but finding very little resources for combatting bullying, I managed to stumble across this gem. It's concise and easily readable. Whilst other books on the topic have many ways to spot the types of bullying, Dr Qureshi's book goes two steps further. Encompassing the new methods used by bullies (this is the first book I've read on the topic which addresses the use of social media as a bullying tactic) and reasons for their behaviour. It also clarifies the difference between racist bullying and regular and why there is a difference. I highly recommend this to anyone in teaching field.

For too long there has been a lack of focus and understanding of this subject matter. Dr Qureshi changes this completely with an inspiring and insightful insight. Using academic excellence coupled with practical experience and application she has an ability to draw the reader in and impart her considerable expertise in an easily accessible way. For those who work with children and who are responsible for nurturing our future generation this is an essential read.

This is a must read/must use resource to help children stand up against bullying! As a student I have used this book working with middle school students and the students love it! I love that it is current and uses real life situations that children encounter in different environments. The sections are descriptive and simple and they help empower students and teachers to advocate for themselves.
