Lisa is expecting, after 5 year long relationship with boyfriend Matt, that when he announces he is taking her out for a slap up meal at a posh venue he will obviously be planning to propose. She shares her expectations with her work colleagues and on returning to work the following day Lisa has to admit to best friend Mandy that she got it all wrong and she is still waiting for the magical moment to happen. Until Mandy unwittingly plants the seed of an idea in Lisa's head...
The humour is well written into Lisa's ensuing plan to become Matt's forever Mrs Right. I didn't know whether to get on board with her plan or cringe with embarrassment on her behalf should Matt decide not to be part of her plans.
No spoilers here, but I strongly recommend this book if you want a quick, funny read. As I say, not my usual format but a huge hit with me.
Lisa takes a gamble on her relationship. Being the impatient modern woman that she is, she doesn't want to wait to be asked that all important question. She wants to know they will be together forever now. So Lisa prepares to most extraordinary proposal that you can imagine.
Between Lisa, her best friend and her Mum, they make and prepare a plan that sounds crazy at first ( and for quite a large part of the planning of it). But this is the fictional world that Rebekah Louise has created for our entertainment and she does it so well.
I had no idea if this spectacular plan was going to work for Lisa? But it was enjoyable to watch it play out and see where it would end.
Will Lisa become a happily married? Or will her plan bring egg on her face? Read The Bulletproof Proposal to find out.
I am going to download the next book by this author called Love, Life and Dreams. I think she has a talent for short story writing.
When Matt takes Lisa to a very posh – and expensive – restaurant after five years together, she is so sure he’s going to pop THE question that she alerts her friends and workmates. Bad move, because although the evening goes well there is no proposal in sight. Lisa decides she has waited long enough and prepares to take matters into her own hands and plans on going even further than just asking the question . . .
This a completely different twist on romance and marriage. Well written, true to form and with all the ups and downs experienced pre-wedding this is a well-written and fun book. Flawed characters make all the usual situations very interesting and entertaining, and the author keeps the interest up right to the very end.
A fabulous, feel-good read and one which I would happily recommend you fit in to your reading list.
My thanks to Rebekah Louise for introducing me to her writing and for providing me with an arc. This is my honest, original and unbiased review.
I can't any more more about the plot, but I can say it was a well written and tightly put together short story, that really captured my imagination. It has great pacing and certainly told the story of how to plan a wedding in two weeks without the groom knowing he could be a groom.
There are ups and downs, and I'm just sorry I reached the end, as I would have loved to see what happened next! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more stories from this author. Beware the story is a bit on the wacky unbelievable side, but it didn't bother me, in fact probably made me like it even more as its pure escapism!
