The Bulldog Long Handled Digging Fork, is a longer handled model of our popular digging fork. The 32 Inch ash handle (made from FSC Ash) on this fork will mould to your hand with age. The head of the tool shows where it has been worked in places, this is because each fork is forged by hand from a solid piece of steel making the fork extremely hard wearing and durable. This tool is ideal for aerating and turning soil, digging compacted soil, breaking down lumps and levelling ground. The diamond ended prongs are shaped to penetrate the soil with ease.

I was initially unsure as for a garden fork it is priced on the high side but decided to treat myself.
The delivery took a bit longer than expected but as this is an item review and not a delivery review I won't down mark it for that reason. Ironically for a British made item it shipped from Amazon's Germany depot, but then the German's do like high quality items so possibly more of a market for these premium goods over there.
I tend to be very heavy handed with garden tools and have regularly snapped/broken/destroyed tools due to over exuberance but this has so far suffered all abuses thrown at it and is still in as good condition as the day received. My other tools that haven't yet snapped tend to either start to bend at the prongs or start to come loose where the metal is bolted to the wooden handle but this is a very solid piece of kit.
Being at the taller end of the scale the longer handle is also a bonus as I don't have to bend as much so less stress on the back.
I'm so happy with this item I've started to look at replacing all my garden tools with the Bulldog range.
Do your soil a favour and get one of these bad boys!
I bought this fork on the basis of recommendations and reviews, and for the longer length (I have back problems). Great play is made of the strength of its being fabricated from a single piece of forged steel. Unfortunately, I was unable to use it initially because of the aforementioned dodgy back. The second time I eventually did use it one of the outer tines bent back badly. Interestingly, another reviewer below has provided a photo of identical damage.
I don't really think have the strength (or the back) to inflict such damage (and have never managed it with cheaper forks that have used over 30 years). Perhaps I was just unlucky. I'm now having it repaired by a local blacksmith, but I won't be using it with confidence on anything other than the easiest of ground and aerating the lawn. Disappointing.
