Version 10 improves on the excellent predecessor version 9 with a smarter interface, new features and the same Bullguard reliability.
I personally prefer "Internet Security" packages over standard anti virus software as full security suites include a firewall, spamfilter, anti spyware and usually a free online backup drive. (5GB in Bullguard's case, not massive, but effective for essential files and folders)
Bullguard deliver on all counts, the software runs quietly in the background and does not slow down your PC whatsoever.
New to version 10 is "Inspector," which scans existing installed programs and applications and advises if an update is available. This is a useful feature but can be quite time consuming if your machine is full of out of date software.
You can of course, decide which ones you wish to install before actually committing to them.
Beyond that Bullguard claim to have improved their virus detection engine by as much as 65% by using "behavioural detection," along with a "safe browsing" feature and password protection on the security settings.
It all makes for a superb security suite that is yet to let me down. You get three licences with the package enabling one master user to install the software on three different machines. When the time comes for renewal, you just purchase a new key from Bullguard and activate it for another year's protection.
With so many security suites out there to choose from, it can be hard distinguishing one from the other. You may be drawn to other household names such as McAfee and AVG, but I firmly believe Bullguard offers the best value in a competitive market.
In summary, I highly recommend Bullguard Internet Security for your home PC requirements.
The not so good - nothing of particular importance. Worth remembering that all 3 licenses expire 12 months from the date that the first installation is activated. In addition, I found it was significantly cheaper to buy the software from Amazon than taking up the subscription invitation direct from Bullguard .
Now I wouldn't go back - I love Bullguard. Great interface - but my favourite thing is just how much faster this seems to run (especially at boot up) than others and how it really does just seem to do everything in the background. I know they all do nowadays, but trust me when I say Bullguard does this even better.
The online chat is a great feature too. Accessed via the programme itself - or from Bullguard website - you can talk to technical help within minutes - they know their stuff and it's so handy to be able to do this and know that someone is always there.
Most importantly - it does everything you need it to - great firewall and stops the viruses!
This is my second year of using Bullguard internet security. I was converted from Kaspersky (which i still use at work) mainly due to the price difference and I was pleasantly surprised. Both programs are good. The only difference is that Bullguard is less in your face and works and does it's own thing in the background, but overall Kaspersky is the more polished product if you can afford it.
I had originally bought BG9 and after a month and a half I was allow to upgrade to BG10 version for free. So after the license expired I decided to hedge my bets and went for a new copy of BG10 as BG12 is over 3x the price.
Upgrading was not as simple as I had thought, I instantly had issues renewing the online account online as it would not accept the license key. So I spoke to an advisor using the online chat portal; who were really helpful and he told me that there was something wrong at their end as the license key I gave has never been registered, So he gave me an extra 60days and told me to email BG with the chat reference number. He even told me to download the latest BG12 from their website as BG10 license codes also work with BG12. So thats good to know to save you guys a few pounds. It took a couple of days to sort out but I now have 420+ days of license left.
Like BG10, BG12 has the same features like gaming mode and it runs silently in the background without slowing your machine down. However the interface is a little less user friendly, but it does have freebies in the form of PC tune up tools and a registery checker which normally cost extra.
All in all I'm very happy in the end and as I protected 3 pcs for less than £2 each for a whole year, you cant get better than that.
