What I love about it is that it is an honest, real account of Brian's experience working with various teams of powerful men and it is so easy to read! Brian has also included messages from other sports leaders he has worked with over his career.
This is not a book about leadership and team theory. This is a real story about leadership PRACTICE told by a leader who has obviously taken his practice really seriously and constantly learned from that practice. The firm opinions, the clear quotes and the engaging anecdotes are all part of it. I love the quotes Brian puts in - particularly ones he has come up with himself, and particularly I love the fact that he so obviously stands for them regardless of what other people think. "From time to time, people will criticise you and be in conflict with you, that's fine by me, it means you stand for something and have an opinion or a plan".
I have been so lucky to have met Brian and worked with him recently - and when I read this book I can just hear his wise, fun and decent voice coming through. No book can possibly represent the man fully though - and if you like this book as much as I do, I suggest you get him personally in front of your team as soon as you can!
