Very informative, a great source of information on guitar building. It's my go-to book for all manner of guitar building related ideas or inspiration.

The main selling point to me about this book is that aside from the building of acoustic and electric guitars; electronics are covered including wiring your own pick ups.

The book came well packaged without any defects and I am rather pleased with my purchase!

I've built a few guitars and in the process I've read lots about the subject. There aren't that many books and this one is probably the most comprehensive whilst staying easy to read.

It's clear, easy to understand, and offers more than one way of doing the various little jobs that need to be tackled during instrument construction. Throughout the book you really pick up the passion that Martin has for guitars and the building of them.
He takes you from how to select the wood for the project right through to winding your own pick-ups. So if you're interested in how guitars are made, thinking of building one then you won't go far wrong with this book!

Slightly disapointed that the photos - which are very important aspects when needing help - are black and white, small and not too clear. Otherwise, quite good.

This book is a good manual to buy with the book by Melvynn Hiscock in the sense that different ideas are put forward, giving the reader a wider perspective. Unfortunately the photos are, as previously mentionned, somewhat small, but still a very useful resource.

The photographs are all coarse-screened monochrome and badly printed as though the book was produced on an old-fashioned poor-quality inkjet printer. Most photos are too small and many are so indistinct as to be useless. The text seems alright as far as it goes although it is mostly quite basic and sometimes unclear.

At £19.95 it is extremely overpriced and simply does not stand comparison with, say, Kinkead's 'Build your own acoustic guitar', which is a vastly superior standard of product at a much lower price.
