I already own the paperback copy of the "previous version" of this book. mastering Django 1.8 LTS. and as I expected this is an excellent upgrade since I moved from 1.8 to 1.11.
the book is easy to read and the examples are actually pretty neat, gives you an idea on how powerful Django is. along the way you'll get to learn some python ( intermediate level I would say )
Though I received this upgraded book before release ( ARC ) I still like to use my previous version physical book for reference from time to time. Waiting for the paperback book to add some weight to my backpack.

This is a great book to start diving into Django, and also a good introductory course to Python. It's a hands on book that teaches you the basics of both the language (python) and the framework (django) to be able to build a website app following the book.
Usually books on programming languages (and specially web frameworks!) get outdated very fast and the author has taken the effort to keep it up to date, which is something that I really appreciate.
After reading the book, and with the help of the official Python documentation (for more complex functionalities not described in the book), you should be able to write quite complex web applications and / or apply for a well paid job (yup, django pays quite well).
Please note - I received and Advance Reader Copy of the book, on which I have based this review.
This is a great book for those who are seeking an introduction to Django, and Python. Like the title says, it is geared towards beginners. If you already are an experienced web developer, it is still a good read. It gives a clear and concise introduction to Python and then will teach a very foundational approach to Django.
Please note - I received an Advance Reader Copy of the book, on which I have based this review.
