4.0 out of 5 stars Not quite so much detail as in past? 23 Dec. 2012
By J. L. Jenkins - Published on Amazon.com

I've bought Let's Go guides for years, not just for Paris and France but for other cities and countries as well. I've always been very pleased with them, and would always consult them before I go -and would recommend them to others. I was a bit disappointed in this edition though - I don't believe it goes into as much detail in certain areas (history, for example) as in the past. And, in this edition, for "excursions", it lists only Versailles and Chartres. While the information it gives for these is very good, in the past, the guide has also included Auvers-sur-Oise, Giverny, Fontainebleau, etc. ,etc.
In this, and I'm sure other guide books, the research on hotels, restaurants, etc. is done some time before the book is published, so don't be surprised if prices are a bit higher when you make a reservation, or arrive there (I'm not saying this as criticism).
4.0 out of 5 stars Very good guide for the young at heart 17 Nov. 2013

Lots of good budget tips... It will tell you the expensive places to avoid and tell you the (cheap) fun places to go. It does cater to tourist and that's why I gave it 4 stars. It needs more maps.
