I'm writing this really as a 'thank you' to the author. This is the second book I've read of hers, the first being BUDDHISM FOR MOTHERS: A CALM APPROACH FOR CARING FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILD, which I also thought supberb. This book is easily as good, and I think I like it more. The chapter on the wonder of being alive (chapter two if I remember correctly) is simply wonderful, and on a lighter note, the chapter on housework is lovely too, and has changed my view of this completely. I've read this book twice, and her first book three times (and left a five-star Amazon review for the first book as well). Every now and then I return to this book, or her first, when I find myself beginning to get impatient again with my three young children, or starting to yell at them again, and when I begin to forget what a great privilege it is to be a Mum. Every time I pick it up, I find something new, and I always come away with a fresh and calm perspective. Both books have enabled me to thoroughly enjoy being a parent, or rather they have gently reminded me to enjoy it :-) I'm not a Buddhist and am not a religious person at all, but maybe I'm a little more spiritual than I once was, largely thanks to these two books, because in the last couple of years I have become quite interested in Buddhism, drawn to the fact that it's a practice rather than a religion, and I've also been very drawn to its emphasis on compassion and mindfulness. So much so, that I would say these two books have enhanced all areas of my life, not just being a mother. Do give it a go. I don't think you'll regret buying either book. Far from it.

I ordered this book looking for an explanation and some answers to how I was feeling as the mother of a toddler - I could not ask for more than this book. It answered everything I was questioning about motherhood and has turned my negative feelings positive. I cannot recommend enough - lifechanging.

Fantastic. Great for any mother of young children. Lots of food for thought. Great to dip into and read in short bits - and lets face it that is all the time you probably have with young children!

As a mother of three under five I really needed a bit of calm, emphatic and encouraging energy in my life. This book cover topics like anger, how to deal with the constant demands and the mundane tasks of motherhood in a practical and very honest way.

This is a fabulous book. With so much going on with our emotions as mothers this book helps to put things in perspective and see things from your child's point of view. Scrap all the parenting books that tell you how to be a parent, this book doesn't tell you what you should or shouldn't be doing, it offers an insight into what might work best for you and ways to alleviate the stresses of everyday life. It inspired me to get in to yoga and meditation which has brought so many benefits to my life.

This book is as fantastic as all the reviews say but please be aware that it is the same book as 'Buddhism for Mothers with Lingering Questions'. It just has a new title and new picture on the front.

This book is incredible and definitely a must to read and re read again and again. It reminds us to cherish our children and ourselves, to focus on each moment we have with our children because they change all the time, and to be in the moment rather than dwelling on the future or the past. It also reminds us not to judge ourselves harshly when we make mistakes, but instead to be mindful of the moment and to watch our feelings come and go, to come from a place of compassion and love for our wonderful children, ourselves and those around us. It is a book I already treasure.

I have read many books on parenting but none have addressed some of the real world questions in the way this book has for me. Integration of the spiritual aspects of life alongside being a busy mother is challenging but this book has shown me that I am not alone. An excellent read.
