It is well developed and informative.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who has an interent in Buddhism-Meditation and Psychology.
An ultimately ineffective approach to introducing Buddhism, Kornfield's is a thoughtful but rushed introduction.
Thoughts and Observations
-The basic historical and theoretical summary of Buddhism isn't terrible, but it is no better than what you would find on Wikipedia. There is no distinct flavor to this short work that makes it worth your time.
-The introduction to meditation is poorly explained (readers are left with very little understanding of why the breath is so central to meditation in general)
-The focus on concepts like 'forgiveness' and 'loving-kindness' without proper context will be misread by typical (American) readers into a Judeo-Christian perspective, producing the incorrect understanding that Buddhism is a tool for personal therapy designed to make us feel better/cleansed without challenging our values and attachments
