A 90 minute documentry which has some great interview's and never before seen clip's, including some very rare concert footage from 1983 and 1984.
It is the first time that all five member's (Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan, Jay Aston, Shelley Preston and Bobby G) have discussed the high's and low's of the band's career and also has some great interviews with the people behind the scenes (Andy Hill, Nicola Martin, Jill Shirley, RCA, Tour Managers etc...)
Also includes a bonus DVD which includes The Original Bucks Fizz playing the Hammersmith Odeon and outtakes from the interviews.
This is a must have for any Bucks Fizz fan!
A MUST HAVE!!!!
I had no idea about! Robert Norman Reade clearly got in close and personal with them and got everyone to spill the
beans and dish the dirt. Rock n Roll at its best.
Original members Mike Nolan, Cheryl Baker, Jay Aston and Bobby G, and later member Shelley Preston are interviewed separately, and make no secret of the fact that they couldn't stand each other ... with the exception of Mike and Cheryl.
The programme includes a look at their earlier careers (Cheryl in Co-Co and Mike in Brooks), and songwriter Andy Hill and his partner Nichola Martin talk about how they assembled the group to represent the UK at the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest. Their successful chart career is discussed in depth, and there are excerpts of their songs from TV shows, promo videos and concerts. The documentary also covers the personal dramas, the line-up changes and the legal squabbles.
Other comments are provided by the band's manager Jill McGrigan, choreographer Chrissie Wickham and tour manager Nick Eve.
Trivia which I gleaned from the programme include ... as well as representing the UK at Eurovision 1978, Cheryl’s pre-Bucks Fizz band Co-Co had taken part in the Song For Europe selections in 1976 ... Jay Aston's brother was a member of Eurovision band Prima Donna ... Stephen Fischer from future Eurovision act Bardo was approached to be the 4th member of Bucks Fizz (before Bobby G), but turned them down ... the band were put together by songwriters Andy Hill and Nichola Martin, who competed against them under the name Gem in the 1981 Song For Europe .... Gem's song, "Have You Ever Been In Love", became a Top 10 hit for Leo Sayer a year later ....
All in all, a very informative documentary.
