In my opinion, this is definitely My Ruin's best studio album to date. It is quite a change from their previous albums, but this is definitely no bad thing. Instead of just screaming her way through every song, Tarrie growls and sings parts of the album, which makes a refreshing change, without losing the band's style. The guitars are also different - with solos added in, more guitar breaks inbetween chorus and verses, and introductions (rather than just launching straight into vocals). Parts of this album do have a more melodic rock feel rather than a metal one, but this definitely shows off Mick Murphy's talents, as both a guitarist and song-writer.
Favourites are Silverlake 6671, Vince Vaughn, and Cold Hands, Warm Heart.
This album is a great introduction for those new to the band, as well as a welcome treat for old fans!

The brutal langauage is absolutly brilliant. Tarrie. B's vocals are slightly different from their previous albums but it sounds so good. It was originaly called the brutal language of being in love but they changed it. I recently saw them live and god are they good. Tarrie kicks ass and Mick Murphy...mick murphy isn't he a sight for sore eyes, mick is so exiting to watch play the guitar. Sliverlake is such a great song the bass at the beginning and then the guitar with Tarrie B's cutthroat vocals. The devil walks is brilliant, spilling open and vince vaghn rocks you just want to dance when you here it. Overall a brilliant album you should BUY IT RIGHT NOW along with all their other albums. Plus check out Tarrie and Mick's side project the Lvrs. Death becomes her comes out on Valantines Day.

I am a huge fan of this band, and this new album is a step in a new direction for My Ruin. If you have any of their older albums, you may not think this album competes with them (Ruined and Recalled!). But, music is not about competing, it is about the sound and greatness of an album, not to be compared to it's predecessors. Tarrie B (the lead singer) sounds slightly different now in her vocal, but this is good. I will nor give a short summery of the album.
Nature Boy - Short intro, spoken word. 5/10
Silverlake 6571 - Nice start to the 'song' tracks. 8/10
The Devil Walks - Average 7.5/10
Spilling Open - My favourite song on the album 9/10
The rest of the album is on the hull good, some tracks are average, but are still worth a listen.
If you are a fan of My Ruin, or fancy trying them out, then I suggest you listen to this album, but do not expect to be blown away.

An excellent album from Miss B and Mick Murphy. Yet again they show that they can deliver the goods...even in the face of adversity!
stand out tracks include "Silverlake 6571", "Cold Hands Warm Heart" and also the catchy "vince Vaughn".
Pure Rock and Roll.... the way it was supposed to be!

wow, this album is really quite good. it is in the same vein as their earlier albums featuring mick murphy, hard rock, rocken solos and great lyrics. mick actually played all the instruments here, and yeah, he is an awesome drummer. this is definitely a rock album, it rocks, like acdc. its more rocking than their earlier stuff, less metal more cocky. the only downfall is the fact that it's only 10 tracks one of which is spoken work, but apart from that its excellent classic my ruin, a must for all my ruin / tairrie b fans. Best songs: the devil walks, vince vaughn and imitation of christ

The only brutal language spoken on this record is the truth. For fans of Arch Enemy and Otep.

Tairrie B has tremendous potential as a vocalist. Unfortunately, her talent continues to more and more diluted as My Ruin's song writing slides downhill album after album. The Brutal Language continues in the direction of THoB, abandoning the nu metal nuances of APUPoVA in favor of straight ahead hard rock. However, the hooks are far less memorable than THoB. The song writing revolves around bad lyrics (far weaker than previous material) and hackneyed riffs that a B grade bar band would reject. Overall, it just seems to lack any real inspiration or direction. Surprisingly, Mick Murphy's guitar solos have actually progressed to the point where they are somewhat interesting, but his rhythm playing is completely one dimensional. Finally, the albums production is flat and lifeless. I don't sell off many albums I buy, but this one is going straight to the used rack.
