For once Melodiya's sound is at least as good as the other transfers I have heard, and the performance is one in which line and momentary details are both memorably realised; in which grandeur, mystery and excitement seem inseparably fused and Bruckner's score appears a vast, living organism rather than an equally imposing but static monument.
