I breezed right through this excellent read, but what's more, it's stuck with me since. I keep thinking about it. The characters and how they interact is super authentic and human, and you get all this character development while they get into the no-time-to-stop-and-introduce-myself action. From the very start, it's marines on the move, move, move! The premise sucked me in immediately and then the action never let me go. I feel like it's important that if I'm going to invest my time to read something even so short as this that it gives me my time's worth, which means it's super entertaining and then makes me reconsider reality and rediscover fantasy. That's what this story does. It's a super enjoyable snack that when you're done with it you go to reach for some more and you think, wait, I already ate it all? The main character shows great complexity, the other characters are super distinct and each plays a valuable part in place. The tech is really fun too. Their armored suits are sweet. The nemesis is cool and creepy for sure. Of course the Mormon theme that brought about this publication gives the whole thing an unexpected flavor (so if you were thinking it would be straight sci-fi, just remember it's gonna side step), but it resolves within those parameters and really works. I recommend this intense mission with the brothers in arms!
