What a heart wrenchingly beautifully written book. This was a story of a hidden live triangle, 2 best friends and their girl!
Lynsie is so much in love with her husband Lincoln and is desperate to have a baby with him, she is also trying to find their dear best friend Dax a girl to have some of the love Lynsie has with Lincoln, what she doesn't realise is that Dad has been hiding his true feelings for Lynsie, after all he is an honourable guy, relishing in friendship! He goes along with Lynsie's matchmaking but never has a second date.
So as things move along, Lincoln is taking part in the 4th July celebrations, he ius after all a pilot in the army. He also has a surprise for her! when disaster strikes, causing her huge grief, oh my such sadness! heartbreaking.
Their friend Dax also a pilot was with Lynsie when disaster struck, he went above and beyond the call of friendship, even burying his feelings.
This was a beautifully written story, full of emotion, love, hate, despair, desire, compassion and passion! Then throw in a pregnancy and more training missions and you have a truly emotional roller coaster of a read!
The love Lynsie shared with her husband was totally different to the live she shared with Dax, which I really thought was going to get overlooked. Lynsie and Dax truly deserved to find a love that was going to get them both through the worst heartache anyone could endure.
I absolutely loved this standalone book, thankfully all ending in the right place!
The story is a lot of things. It is funny at parts, heartbreaking during a lot of it. But mostly it is a journey. A journey to find what your heart desires the most, even if that's not what you believe it to be at the start.
For Lynsie Fox that journey is one she could never have dreamed she would have to go on. She has a good life with her husband Lincoln, a pilot, and a very good one at that. He and Lynsie are getting on with life, trying for a baby, and enjoying each other's company.
Dax is Lincoln's best friend, also a pilot. He is a good friend to Lynsie also, and he becomes a very important part of the story as it progresses.
I cannot say too much as it would give everything away. Suffice to say this is an amazing story, very well written. It is written from the heart and that shines through as you read it. I recommend you read it, but be prepared as it is a tough story to read at times.
I did find it somewhat difficult or pointless reading the first 20% because it's about Lynsie and her time with Lincoln her military pilot husband who dies in a freak aircraft accident. Its always good to set the base of the story and give the background but 20+% was too much for me before any real action begun but it did not take away from the story in any way. I am pretty sure most people will love it, I am just very particular. (Or it was just the fact that I did not want to fall for Lincoln because I knew I could not have him throughout the book....I like to protect myself **Wink**)
Anyway on to the really good stuff; this book was amazing once I really got into.
Lynsie's pain was palatable from the pages her journey was one of great pain, hurt and confusion she conducted herself with grace and eventually opened up her heart once more the purest of love.
Dax has being in love with his best friends wife for a very long time and after his death I would have expected him to make a move on Lynsie but he did not he was their for her as a friend a shoulder and comforter. He put her needs above his own and for that I feel in love with the sexy pilot. Lincoln was his best friend and brother he was also grieving that lost. Together they helped each other over come an incredibly difficult time.
Overall; beautifully written with emotions spilling from the pages. Erika did a fantastic job of plotting the story in away that captivates and touches you to the very core. I was worried I would not like this story because of the "jumping with the best friend thing" but not once did that even cross my mind once I started. The love between them developed and flourished on the pages for all to see the love that Dax and Lynsie shares is very hard to find and it was written oh so perfectly that you just cannot help but fall in love right along with them.
This is definitely a tear jerker so make sure you have your tissues at the ready because you will need them.
A truly touching read which I highly recommend.
