The conversations between the characters had very little in the way of contractions. This seemed to make them stilted and unnatural.
The overall narrative style was naive and choppy. This resulted in a story which was simply too unrealistic to be wholly engrossing for me.
As an aside, I really feel that this book was let down by the editing/proofreading. There were lots of errors. Generally, I look past these in an ARC, but as a published book, I would have expected the mistakes to have been picked up. Whilst this didn't affect my grade for the book overall, it was noticeable.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I have never read a character quite like Brogan. She has a hair trigger and some serious issues as the result of a childhood tragedy. This combination, to me, made her both interesting and frustrating at the same time.
Kyren is not dissuaded by Brogan's hang ups and her, at times, abrasive personality, and he turns out to be exactly what She needs in her life.
The twist at the end of the story was definitely unexpected and a great wiiiiiiiiiiiide-open ending to the story.
While the book could have used a more thorough proofreading, I felt the storyline was very unique and I'm interested to see how it ends!

I need the next book now.......what a way to leave me hanging!
I loved this book from the beginning and read it in one sitting. It ticked every box for me of what I look for in a book. Two wounded souls who find each other and help repair years of hurt, both fighting their own demons but so much stronger together. The book covers some very dark subject matters, but the author manages to do it in such a way you are taken on a healing journey with the characters rather than living their nightmares. I will definitely be looking out for the next installment.
Will things turn out for the best with these two or will it end in tragedy
Amazing books 1&2 I really got into them the emotions you go through with the characters is amazing
I am giving the book 4/5
