A delightful escape from a dreary day of housework into the lives of Paul, the wounded hero, and Olivia, his hired live in companion. On first meeting the chemistry is electric between these two but both are hurting from past experiences and so it takes a while for them to realise their feelings for each other. Really well written. Highly recommend it.

I loved this! It's been a long time some I read a army-vet book. I really invested in the characters and the story and I felt the only thing that was missing was a really nice epilogue just to help the HEA and give me that extra happy feeling at the end!! I will be reading more by this author.

Loved this book and whilst the plot isn't too surprising, this book is nonetheless a good and worth while read. My only criticism would be to have a longer epilogue which was a few years from now just to get that complete happy ever after ending. Would definitely recommend.

Two people who are broken and have scars in completely different ways.

One runs away and One hides.

I read somewhere that this book was like Bella and the Beast... Well I can honestly say that this book is like Bella and the Beast but sexier... It was a lovely beautiful love story... I love it when the girl is the heroine of it...

I requested this one a few months back so When I went to check if I had any ARC’s to read and found/read the blurb of this one I was surprised to find how similar it seemed to my previous read (The Poppy Factory).

It’s not similar in any way.

Where do I even start? I fell in love with this book and its characters. That really is the only way I can describe it, Even now weeks after having read it when I think about it Broken as a whole I just get this warm, fuzzy feeling. Normally when I go in to a book with expectations they’re rarely, if ever met. This one not only met my expectations but knocked them out of the park.

The characters are the first thing I remember when I think ‘Broken’. They are what I would call the epitome of memorable, not to mention entertaining… Especially when they were both together; you know the phrase “It was like watching a tennis match.”? Olivia and Paul’s back and forth really was exactly like that but WAY more enjoyable. Neither character ever verbally conceded to the other and that was half fun of the book as far as I was concerned.

Olivia was so unpredictable in her reactions, I love the fact that her reactions weren’t the ones a reader would expect, it keeps the reader on their toes (as they say).

I was left with the question of what happened with Paul’s father… I mean did he come back? Not just that, what did Olivia’s family and friends think of her and Paul? I would have loved to have seen that first meeting scene.

I went in wanting to read something passionate, something with a little push and pull between characters, something with intensity. This book gave me that and so much more. If my review wasn’t enough of an indicator for you then let me say it “out loud” for those of you on the fence about this one – read it.

Sometimes your just minding your own business looking for good book to read and BAAM you find a book you really love so what do you do next, get the next one in the series obviously!!! Especially if its by Lauren Layne cause I am pretty sure now that she can write anything and I'll read it.

Meet Olivia Middleton who was kind of the bad guy in the last book in the prequel Isn't She Lovely ,Ethan's ex-girlfriend and Paul Langdon who is a war veteran, a recluse, disfurged, damaged and so not the old guy Olivia thought she was going to be taken care of to earn penance. Both of the characters are fighting their own demons and drowning in guilt hence the title 'BROKEN' because in all honestly that's what they believe they are.

But the difference that's obvious from the first page is that that Olivia wants to fix herself and stop being that person she was while Paul does not want that at all and does not want Olivia to help him because he doesn't need any.

Pauls father forces him to accept 'care giving' from Olivia as a one last chance to bring back to life and from then on we see witty banter, some catty comments, some sweet moments, pushing and hurting each other ,some emotional moments and through all this falling in LOVE. With Paul finally feeling hope because of Olivia.

Paul: "She makes me forget to breathe. She makes me forget everything."

This book is a roller coaster ride that makes you glad you experienced it which ends with leaving you with a simile, happy and content.

Minor quibble: I do wish Lauren Layne had given us an epilogue.Other than that I 'hope' you read the book as soon as it releases. Happy reading.
