"A book of splendidly nostalgic photographs." Speedscene"

About the Author

Born in London, Peter Collins has been a motoring journalist and photographer for fifteen years. He has a lifelong interest in motorsport and racing history and has been attending events worldwide since 1965. Co-founder and editor-at-large of Auto Italia magazine, he also contributes to American and other European magazines, as well as websites. This is his fourth book. A super photo record of Saloon/Touring car racing covering over 20 years and bringing back many memories for those who were there. It is an excellent reminder of how exciting the multi marque and capacity series were, unlike today's Touring car races that have become rather boring with limited manufacturer participation.

This book is exactly what it claims to be - not a detailed history of saloon car racing but a nostalgic look back at when saloon car racing was interesting. It may be indulgent for the author - it is so well written with great detail; it is certainly for the reader. Well worth the money, entertaining and informative and I appreciated the rare pictures of Ingliston. Recommended

Rather thin with big gaps in the years. Some errors in identifying cars but then I was there and looking after some of them. Good toilet book.

HASH(0x9d82b840) out of 5 stars Disappointed: Expected much more 3 Jan. 2010

I feel that this undersized book(8.5 x 7.5 inches and about 90 pages) is well overpriced(at $22.75) for its content. I really cannot recommend this book to people who are interested in the BTCC. The book is merely a collection of photos with lengthy captions. One would have expected a listing of the annual series champions if not a table with final standings, but neither of these are present. The author acknowledges that the book is overfull with photos from Brands Hatch and makes no apology for it. I think that this is one of those books that was produced as a labor of love by its author and was undertaken with inadequate consideration of the purchasers of the book. There is little of use in this book except for an odd photo or two which may jog a memory. I have purchased quite a number of books by this publisher, Veloce, but this is not one of their better efforts. This was an important enough racing series that it really deserves a quality effort. Sadly, no one has yet come forward with same.
