If you are a diver, sports fisher man, seashore enthusiast, or are In any way in the natural history of Britain's marine wildlife, this book Is for you. Updated and expanded to cover more species in greater detail, this new Edition of "British Sea Fishes" is devoted entirety to the fish found around the coasts of the British Isles - and most of the 100 pictures described are illustrated with colour photog1dpb the fishes in their natural habitat. Rather than trying to describe all the known species of British fish, the author has fully covered all those that are likely to be seen (plus some rarities) down to a depth of about 50 metres. M accurate drawing, usually of the fish in the photograph, serves to highlight important identification features. Combined with the clear, simple and informative text, it should allow even complete beginners to identify accurately the fish they see. The Author's research involves marine diving surveys of fish and invertebrates for conservation organisations and other bodies in the UK and overseas. While her research requires a wide knowledge of marine life, from sponges to sea squirts, her over-riding interest is in fish. She has extensive first-hand experience of studying fish under water in the UK, Middle East and Far East, and she has run many expeditions and marine courses for divers and naturalists through the Marine Conservation Society and the Board of Continuing Education, Cambridge University. Frances Dipper has written or been consultant for numerous other books and popular titles on the underwater world, both for adults and child. EXTENSIVELY ILLUSTRATED BY ROBERT IRVING

This is a superb value book very well put together by a dedicated scientist in this field of expertise. Negative reviews merely underline the status of the reviewer. The phographic work is realistic as opposed to enhanced. Well worth investing in a copy if you can.
