This excellent book looks at the way the papers viewed the growing threat of Hitler from 1936-39.It must have taken hours of reading through the newspapers to accumulate the material for this book. The Guardian and News Chronicle gave a saner view of the situation. The Times was virtually a government mouthpiece.Thankfully he gives little space to the Express and Mail which were both shrill xenophobia..So not much has changed has it.Anyway the book is highly recommended.
