Slightly confusing title, as the book is not about the British Beat Boom at large, but about Eel Pie Island, the bohemian retreat in the middle of the Thames that hosted bands through the trad, blues and psychedelic eras. Informative, and very evocative for anyone who ever made the slightly hazardous trip across to the island. Recommended.

I got this in todays post and was amazed

As one of the lucky people who went "over the Island" regularly in the early 60s, it
truly touched nerves that I had almost forgotten

Full of great photos of the people and times, it really took me back

Whether you were there or want to know more of this great British Rock history, the book is a "must have"

Excellent well written book with lots of great photos looking at the birth of UK Rhythm & Blues on Eel Pie Island in Twickenham, and how this R&B heritage continues today with the present day Eel Pie Club in Twickenham.
