Product description

From the Back Cover

Brilliant Teaching Assistant answers these questions and many more. Outlining the key duties and responsibilities of the role, and illustrated with examples from practical contexts, Louise Burnham will show you how to shine in the classroom and focus on your continuing professional development to aim for the next step in your career in education.

  • Learn what you can do to better support the pupils in your care

‘Encourages the idea of excelling, rather than just surviving.’
Gareth Hawkins, classroom teacher

I have recently bought this book after working in school for over 1 year. Why didn't I buy it sooner?? The case studies are excellent and it is easy to read. It now goes with me to school everyday.

Bought to support Louise Burnham's book on supporting teaching and learning in schools. Easy reading style, very accessible. Can be read in one hit but useful to dip back into.

Louise Burnham has written an excellent guide that helps you to think in more detail about your position as a teaching assistant and how you can put your heart and soul into your work to become a better assistant to your teachers and your pupils alike. I bought this after buying Louise's Level 2 Certificate Suporting Teaching and Learning in Schools to extend my learning before starting my Level 3 course and found it to be very insightful.

I would have to agree with the only 2 star review that is there at the moment. I didn't find the book useful as I thought most of the information was basic. I have recently completed a level 3 diploma on supporting teaching and learning in schools through my local college (not online). Having looked through the chapters I realised most of the information was familiar to me so not really worth the read. I was looking more for something that goes far and beyond the basics. In hindsight if I was still doing the course the book would have come very handy to complement it.
