Product Description

Product Description

Fresh from her 2004 Oscar win, Renée Zellweger reprises the title role in the romantic screen comedy Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. The film also boasts a sensational companion soundtrack from Geffen Records featuring great pop legends and newer rising stars, among them Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Rufus Wainwright and Dido, Carly Simon, Jamie Cullum, Sting and Annie Lennox and more. With Nick Angel serving as music supervisor/executive producer, the soundtrack Bridget Jones the Edge of Reason is a pop music lover's delight. Newly recorded songs appearing on the CD include: a cover of Sade's song "Your Love Is King," by rising U.K. star Will Young; "Misunderstood," a new tune by Robbie Williams; "Everlasting Love," a newly recorded cover by Jamie Cullum, "Stop!," by UK artist Jamelia; Kate McGarrigle's "I Eat Dinner," recorded as a duet by her son Rufus Wainwright & Dido; and a newly recorded version of Sting's "We'll Be Together" by Sting and Annie Lennox. Other songs on the soundtrack include: "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" by Kylie Minogue; "Super Duper Love (Are You Diggin' On Me?)" from Joss Stone; "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" by Mary J Blige; "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce; the classic "I'm Not In Love" by 10CC; Carly Simon's hit "Nobody Does It Better;" "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" from The Darkness; Minnie Ripperton's timeless "Loving You;" and "Bridget's Theme" by Harry Gregson Williams.

While it's cast largely in the same musical mould as its winning predecessor, there's a more palpable sense of romantic melancholy wafting through this soundtrack to the further misadventures of Rene Zelwegger's lovably hapless, love-triangulated Bridget. Though still aimed at adult contemporary tastes, it's also imbued with a healthier dose Anglocentric cool via tracks like Jamelia's torchy "Stop," Will Young's elegant take on Sade's "Your Love is King," teenaged Alfie contributor Joss Stone's soulful "Super Duper Love" and the ubiquitous Kylie Minogue's teasing "Can't Get You Out of My Head." Mary J. Blige offers up a stark, melodramatic cover of Elton John's "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" while Rufus Wainwright (with Dido) turns Anna McCarrigle's (Wainwright's mother) "I Eat Dinner" into an emotive centrepiece. There are the expected 70's chestnuts (10cc's "I'm Not in Love," "Nobody Does It Better" by Carly Simon, Minnie Ripperton's "Lovin You") and the obligatory superstar remake (Sting and Annie Lennox muscling up his "We'll Be Together"), but a few surprises as well, including the deliciously over-the-top, nouveau glam-rock left turn by The Darkness, "I Believe In A Thing Called Love." --Jerry McCulley

Having thoroughly enjoyed the last Bridget Jones film and accompanying soundtrack, I was eagerly awaiting this one, and I was definitely not disappointed!! The opening cover version of "Your Love is King" by Will Young is gorgeous, and this album is worth buying for that and also the beautifully haunting "I Eat Dinner (When the Hungers Gone)" by Rufus Wainwright and Dido. The melody lingers with you for ages afterwards (as does the lyric about eating mashed potatoes!!) There is something for everyone on this album from the classic 70's hits of "I'm not in love" by 10cc and "Nobody does it Better" by Carly Simon right through to the new kids on the block namely the super duper Joss Stone and Jamie Cullum.
So go on, crack open a bottle of Chardonnay, grab your very own Mark Darcy/Daniel Cleaver, and dance your heart out round the front room to the likes of Kylie, The Darkness and Beyonce!! And in true Bridget fashion, sing all the heartbreakers as loud and as proud as you can! You know you want to!!!!!!

I saw Bridget Jones on the day it was released and was very impressed with the soundtrack, which is used perfectly throughout the film. I don't often buy soundtracks but this had so many good songs on it I thought it was worth the money. There is a variety of songs on here to suit everyone -from old classics to new songs from some of the best modern artists.
The first song on the album is the best - Will Young's version of Your Love is King. His brilliant voice is shown off to its best on this track. It is perfectly suited to him and his version is better than the original in my view - really heartfelt. Other standout tracks are from Joss Stone, The Darkness (brings back great memories of the hilarious fight scene!), Carly Simon and Beyonce.
One of the highlights is another cover, Amy Winehouse's version of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? This is a classy reworking of this song and Winehouse's voice is perfect for it. Mary J Blige also does a strong cover of Elton's Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word, though it is acoustic and lacks the power of the original. This is the one song that sounded better in the film and disappointed slightly on the album. However, there is really something for everyone on here - rock, RnB, soul, jazz and pop. This is worth a listen even if you don't like the film.

Films dont come any better than Bridget Jones, and the soundtrack to the edge of reason is fantastic as well. Will Young blows my mind with his cover version of Your Love is King... is there anything this guy cant pull off to an unreachable standard? other brilliant tracks are Jamelias cover of Stop, and Mary J Bliges cover of sorry seems to be the hardest word. These 3 tracks send shivers down my spine!!
Fantastic Album!! :-)

I just saw Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, and I immediately went out and bought the soundtrack. I was thrilled to see Joss Stone, Robbie Williams, Beyoncé and Carly Simon were all part of the tracks. I especially like 'Your Love is King', by Will Young. It perfectly fits how Bridget and Mark feel for each other!
This, along with the first Bridget Jones soundtrack, is a must own!

The ultimate feel good movie of the year obviously has to produce to ultimate soundtrack. With the perfectly placed 10cc 'I'm not in love' to the upbeat Barry White, this soundtrack gives you exactly what you want and come to expect from a chick flick. I only wish that bridget was up for an oscar!!! Relive the moment with this CD.....I only wish that madonna's 'like a virgin' was on it, that film totally reinvented that song for me.
