Brilliant books! Having done it the wrong way around, watching the film's before reading the books (I was only 5 when the first book came out though...), being in love with the film's I still enjoyed the books very much, they made me laugh and smile and were brilliant. I can't wait for the 3 rd book next month for Bridgets adventures to carry on and see how her life progresses with Mr Darcy.

I absolutely love Bridget Jones's Diaries! I'd watched both films then bought the first book which was great. As soon as I finished the first book, I came back to Amazon to get the second book- I thought the omnibus looked fantastic, it was also better value for money as the individual books worked out more expensive than the omnibus. My first book had also been second hand, so I was excited to get my own brand new copy! I read the first book all over again as well as the second book and will never tire of these books! They are just great. All the moments from the film-plus more! And hours of laugh-out-loud moments too! I can definitely recommend to any Bridget Jones fan. Unfortunately, mine was ordered with another item, badly packaged and very damaged-but a replacement was soon sent out.

Loved reading all 3 books together! Only seen the films before, but when the 3rd book came out I really wanted to read it, but I needed to read the first 2 as well. This was a really good way of doing that, as the books just continued into each other. Also there's things that happen in the book which you miss in the films.

I kinda liked the movie I watched while cooking dinner on a random Friday evening,it was somewhat entertaining. In general I prefer the books to the film, wanted a light read for a change, and so I got this. I didn't like the books at all. I didn't like the style of writing, I didn't like the author's use of "oh-so cool slang", which seemed to be quite artificial to me, and I had a hard time finishing even the first one. Gave up on the second. It was actually incredibly boring, and I just couldn't manage to "like" the heroine. For once I prefer a movie to a book, I think that's a "first" for me.

I decided to re-read the original Bridget Jones’s escapades before I approached the third instalment in the series. I was a bit scared, what one loved during teenage years (and gosh, BJ seemed such a cool person to me, drinking, smoking, hanginng out in bars until early hours and then working in a publishing house and owning her own flat) could very well make me cringe upon this re-visiting. But I was delighted! I still enjoyed “Bridget Jones’s Diary” enormously! It’s a classic, a dazzling comical creation. It’s light-hearted, good-humoured and indeed a sort of zeitgeist of the time long passed… The nineties. (Can you believe the world sans Wi-Fi existed not so long ago?!)

I am almost not sure if the "younger" generation would appreciate the book, but if you were born in the Eighties - you will definitely relate.

P.S. "Bridget Jones's Diary" is a five-star novel. I am not so keen on the 2nd installment - why oh why Helen Fielding makes Bridget a person who does not know where Germany is?!

I, like many others, have seen and loved the films and only decided to indulge in the books ahead of the new third instalment. Really surprised at just how much I enjoyed the books. Whilst Bridget is...well...Bridget, I was pleased at how there are lots of differences between the books and the films, particularly the second. The book is less farcical than the portrayal in the film. Would definitely recommend Bridget fans to buy and read these books

Such a classic - what can I really say??
A good, funny read, but very frank in how a thirty-something views the world and how the world seems to see them.
If it was part of the school curriculum how easier my twenties would have been!
