Mozzarella & Prosciutto Panini

– 2 Panini style bread rolls

– 1 ball of mozzarella, drained & patted dry

– 4 slices of prosciutto

– 2 chargrilled cooked red peppers

– Fresh torn basil leaves

1. Preheat press. Slice bread lengthwise and place just enough sliced mozzarella to cover the base of each roll.

2. Top with sliced red pepper and Prosciutto and scatter with torn basil leaves.

3. Close the Panini rolls and place carefully onto the hot Panini press. Toast for 5-10 minutes.

Pancetta, Brie & Pear Rustic Toasted Sandwich

– 1 French Boule or similar round loaf of bread

– 6 cooked pancetta slices

– 6 slices of ripe brie

– Ripe pear, washed, dried & thinly sliced

– Honey, optional

1. Preheat press. Cut 4 slices of bread. Place 2 slices on a board or plate to assemble.

2. Top first with brie, then pancetta, then the sliced pear and drizzle with honey.

3. Cover with remaining bread slices and toast for 8-10 minutes until golden and crisp.

Halloumi, Avocado & Smoked Salmon Toasted Bagel

– 2 bagels cut in half

– 100g halloumi, thickly sliced

– 1/2 ripe avocado, sliced

– 100g smoked salmon

– Softened butter + Freshly ground black pepper

– 1 tbsp mayonnaise with a dash of mustard

1. Preheat press. Place the bagel halves onto the press, close the lid and toast for 2 minutes until golden. Remove and set aside.

2. In a hot pan/griddle cook halloumi until golden.

3. Assemble the bagels with butter salmon, mayonnaise, halloumi, avocado & a touch of black pepper.

4. Place bagels onto the press & warm.

Initially I was disappointed as I thought the lid fastened down but it doesn't so I almost returned it straight away but then I decided to give it a go. It's easy to clean although there are no removable plates. It cooks things quite quickly and we'll. So far I've cooked bacon, egg, sausage, toast and toasted sandwiches all with good results. I've learned not to overfill the sandwich as they don't deal and the filling drops out and it cooks the inside food of the sandwich even though it's not sealed, melts the cheese, heats the tomato, warms the ham so as I'm trying more foods in it I'm getting to like it now. A good size, will fit 2 sandwiches and a great quality machine, wipe it over when you're finished and it looks like new again.

I would class this Breville as one of my best buys.
I didn't want to spend a lot on a sandwich toaster because I was unsure whether it would get used very often so I searched Amazon Resale (formerly called Amazon Warehouse) and found the Breville Sandwich/Panini Press & Toastie Maker advertised as in new condition and with a decent price drop.
The fact I could do several different types of toasted sandwich appealed to me, another big plus was it did not cut the sandwich into triangles with the proverbial inedible hard toasted edges.
It arrived and was in indeed in as new condition and was put into service later the same day to make a simple cheese toastie, which was a great success, no tooth breaking hard crusts just a very nice edible cheese sarnie, since it's inaugural outing it has also produced numerous and varied filling Panini's with great success.
I did read somewhere the suggestion that it was great for also cooking bacon rashers, well, of course that theory had to be tested @ next use.
In all honesty I was not overly impressed, although I will say it is quite capable of cooking bacon, however it does not generate enough heat to produce a nice crispy rasher, resulting in a rather anaemic looking piece of bacon which required the employment of the grill to finish the job.
So in conclusion I would say, unless you like anaemic bacon that is, don't bother trying to cook anything except Toasties & Panini's which will not disappoint.
It is also very very easy to clean, just let it cool down and wipe any spills with kitchen roll then wash the plates with a cloth & some washing up liquid, rinse and wipe off any soap, dry with paper towel & store.
Once it has been washed I place a paper towel between the plates to absorb any residual damp & protect the plate surfaces, there is a sliding lock on the handle & a bit on the underside to wrap the cord around.
It is almost 1 year since I purchased this item and I have no regrets, it is a good quality item.

What a great buy! Easy to remove plates for cleaning and a choice of plates for different toasties. I do love my cheese toasties so the plates do get in a bit of a mess - but as they are dishwasher friendly - no worries! Plates for steak / meat and plates for waffles come with it. Heats up quickly, low cost to run, and despite my overloading with cheese, the deep plates mean very little dribbling. Make a meal with the one tool, so easy. Great value for money too.

Breville are the originals and this sandwich toaster is great. It's small, compact and looks and feels quality. The plates heat up in about 4 minutes and produce excellent toasties. Although it can do fairly chunky bread with filling, I wouldn't try too thick ones in case you can't close without putting pressure on the closing catch and damage it. The closing catch does feel fairly solid though. It makes toasties with a lovely colour in about 5 mins just make sure you butter the outside of your bread. Being able to remove the plates for cleaning is essential to be able to keep your toaster clean and in good nick. The plates on this are removed very easily and fit back just ad easily. Great sandwich toaster.

EDITO solo para comentar que hace casi seis años que compré esta sandwichera y sigue dando guerra a pesar del uso intensivo que le damos en casa. Tiene las marcas que suele dejar el paso del tiempo y el uso, pero todavía no se le ha resistido ningún bocadillo.

¡No podria estar más contento tras haber probado mi nueva sandwichera!

Esta artículo tiene una presencia impecable con acabados en acero inoxidable y plásticos negros. Tanto la superficie exterior como las planchas son superfáciles de limpiar, basta pasar un paño o papel de cocina húmedo y sacar brillo con otro seco.

Sobre el trabajo que realiza, casi profesional. Para estrenarla hemos preparado unos bocadillos a base de rodajas de tomate y cebolla, espinacas, lonchas de queso, brotes de brócoli y jamón de pavo. El resultado ha sido inmejorable quedando el bocadillo planito y tostado mientras que en el interior los ingredientes se habían integrado bastante entre sí gracias al queso. La sorpresa mas grata, como avancé en el primer párrafo: la limpieza es cuestión de 2 minutos.

Si encuentro algún inconveniente o virtud adicional, editaré mi opinión. Espero que sea útil y os animéis con la compra.
