But luckily we both agree it was worth purchasing for sure.
Worktop Space was very limited but it is around the same size as the kettle just a bit taller/wider.
You can make around 6 cups of tea with a full jug so much more than the kettle capacity.
It is very quick and convenient to heat up the water and it auto dispenses water into cup once you press the button.
Prefer to carry the jug to the water tap which you can do with this one.
No need for a britas filter option on kettle as we have a filtered water tap.
Like the container lighting up to show water heating up.
Looks decent near my Nespresso machine.
All round worth getting.
We had an expensive spare kettle we were going to use but have now left that one stored away sadly due to this purchase.

Bought this because it had really good ratings and a friend has the smaller model.

The good bits:
variable cup sizes-only heat exactly what you need.
Good strong flow- agitates the tea bag well.

The not so good bits:
The lid has a push button release- it’s a two hand job because when you push button -dispenser slides forward if you don’t hold it.

Soft close lid - it’s a gimmick and unnecessary over design. Again a two hand job.

Jug capacity- with 3 of us in the house, I’m always refilling.
Because of the water reservoir design narrows at the top, it’s misleading as to how much is left. It would be helpful if it showed cups or fluid ounces and not dots.

Variable cup sizes is good, however if you need more than the largest capacity, you have to heat another cup full.

The button for changing the cup size is tiny, and a bit fiddly.
My partner and I are retired, and I wanted a water dispenser for the energy saving and to avoid having to lift a kettle for refilling and for pouring boiling water into a tea cup.

This machine does that, but it’s not designed for folks with dexterity and sight problems.

My previous machine was less sophisticated- it kept flowing until you stopped it. , had a bigger reservoir with a simple lift up lid.
But it regularly served the first few fluid ounces cold, which defeated the main purpose.

When this Breville goes to the great electrical appliance heaven , I will be looking for a simpler machine which always serves piping hot water, which after all is its main purpose.

Our friend has the smaller type but I liked the extra features on this model I.e. you can vary the amount of water that comes out so you can use small or large cups. You just have to remember to re-set the dial or you could put too much in a small cup but no bother, the drip tray would take it and east to remove and clean. The other thing that is handy is the front button which immediately stops water coming out. Handy if you only want a small amount of hot water. Easy to fill, stylish and a great asset to your kitchen. I love it, one of my better buys👍

The best way to explain how good this device is would be to tell you that it replaced the identical unit (different colour though) that we bought about 12 years ago.
The OLD one was white and wore the Kambrook brand. It was still working, but definitely showing it's age with the occasional hiccup. Decided to replace it BEFORE it died and still have it as a back-up if needed.
I had bought a similar device, but not the same, about a year ago but kept it in the cupboard for when the old one died... it never did!
