I saw this band at a festival and was impressed so I decided to get one of their albums and chose this one because of the badass cover art. And the album met my expectations. The band plays an extremely fast and intense thrash metal with a singer who switches between black metal shrieks and low death growls. The guitarists often use Maiden-like guitar harmonies which makes the music a tad more accesible and even catchy while maintaining the intensity. The rhythms and song structures are fairly simple and does not contain a lot of surprises but that is not necessary. The songs are so short and fly by so fast you don't have time to get even remotely bored. Not exactly revolutionary but doesn't have to be.

An excellent blend of melodic riffs and solos combined with elements of thrash/death metal. The vocals are strong too - gravely but not incomprehensible. First class musicianship and production techniques makes this a great listen and one of my favourite releases of 09.

I bought this album because of the cover, which I think is splendid. The gatefold didgipack is very nice too. Musically it is fast, heavy, thrashy, shouty, etc. No particular track stands out, but if you like it loud and fast there are worse places to go. Probably if you are building a collection you would not start here.
Skeltonwitch is a young band, we may discover more in future.
