A = Awesome. B = Brilliant. C = Complex. D = Delightful. E = Entertaining. F = Funny. G = Gripping. H = Hilarious. I = Inspiring...... Ok I could do the whole alphabet, but I won't.
I literally stayed up half the night reading until I couldn't see anymore. I love this family, nearly as much as the author does.
Tyson really grows into himself and begins to find his way. I wanted to devour the story but also didn't want it to end!
I am now going to go back and re-read the first two books and wait patiently (cough!) for the last (sniffle) book.
Fans of this series won't be disappointed and if you're a newbie to it, you really need to read the first two books to appreciate the whole story.

I really, really wish I had read the other two books before this, but even as a stand alone this was brilliant, an utterly marvellous read. It was funny, serious, heartbreaking in its honesty and just downright wonderful. You are there, in the middle of this family, this genius boy child and his crazy brother who loves Ty with his whole heart and wants to wrap him in cotton wool like most parents do, but Ty's growing up, as all children do and he has to deal with his issues, his feelings, his most secret fears. The characters are so believable, so real, its as if you know them personally and it takes a good author to make you feel anything like that.
I shall read the other two books just because the story telling of TJ Klune is so damn good and I want to see how Bear and Otter meet and everything that entails.
This was just so refreshing to read, it grabs you and pulls you along for the rollercoaster ride and when you get off you still want more. I never wanted it to end.

I love T.J. Klune's writing style. It's loud, brash, emotional and so, so funny. One minute laughing out loud, the next weeping like a pre pubescent teenager. I've learned to my cost that I cannot read my Kindle in bed at moments of insomnia when reading a T.J.Klune novel. I guffaw, I snort, I sob and the old guy, sleeping to my side doesn't appreciate it!
This was a road trip extraordinaire! Characters from previous BOATK novels feature prominently, characters from other novels by Mr Klune are re-introduced and also feature prominently.
Kid, Tyson has matured, he has become his brother, he is no longer the precocious kid of previous novels, he has matured and he is lost, but also found as Dom takes centre stage in his life.
I loved it. Hopefully we, the reader will discover more in the next instalment. We need to know more about Bear and Kid's sister Isobel, and Dom's son, and Bear and Otter's attempt to adopt or have a baby via surrogate.
A most definite 5 star story for me.

where to start...
here we get another insight to the rollercoaster that is the McKenna boys. you don't have to have read the previous books but it is such a richer experience if you have. Now it's the kids turn. The earthquakes. The bathtub. The monologues. Bear and Otter. they're all still there, but so much was expected for the kid, notably by the kid himself, maybe that was the problem. but he gets there in the end. and the end is so much sweeter for what he endures to get there. I laughed, I cried ( only a little bit, n o t a full on bear like episode I promise)
if you've read the series there is nothing I can tell you that will make you read this book, if you haven't read it, then you need to start at the beginning. it will be worth it.I promise.

Loved the previous books about Bear, Otter and the Kid and eagerly anticipated this one.
It is fantastic, love the characters and the story is so believable. A real love story.
One thing though - please don't make us wait another two years for the follow up!

I laughed, I cried, I wanted to finish the story, but I never wanted it to end! I fell in love all over again with Bear, Otter and the Kid and then fell in love with Dom! I loved the inclusion of Paul, Vince, Sandy/Helena and Wheels from 'Tell me it's real' which made this book feel so real. TJ Klune is an exceptional storyteller who creates characters you care about so much and I was delighted to see that there will be another chapter about this amazing little family.

If you haven't read the other Bear, Otter and the Kid books, buy them now and they will take you on a hilarious and sad rollercoaster journey and, with the inclusion of characters from 'Tell me it's real', you have to read that too before you start 'The Art of Breathing'.

BTW, I'm still chuckling at the rabbit joke Creed tells JJ ..... Maybe one day, there will be a JJ story to be told!!

I honestly loved this book and its prequels so much that I re-read them again immediately after I finished them. Equally heart breaking and funny, I grew to love not only the three main characters but also the members of their self made family. All are such quirky personalities that I adored them all by the end. A keeper
