4.0 out of 5 stars Encouraging book; missing links 11 Aug. 2016
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
A very informative and clear book about the MANY benefits of breastfeeding, the multiple meanings of breastfeeding (you don't have to produce your own milk to breastfeed!), and how to induce lactation. It gave me great hope as a future adoptive mom.
It's only missing one star because you're supposed to be able to access links on the companion website to get examples of certain techniques for inducing lactation, but there are no such links on the website.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful book 2 Aug. 2014
By Adrien Whitaker - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Very helpful! Very clear explanation of the different methods and handy charts to help you figure out when to do what. I am in the process of adoption and will be starting the accelerated goldfarb method using domperidone from a compound pharmacy and the birth control for 30-60 days. Hoping it works :)

5.0 out of 5 stars I found it easy to read and finished it in 2 days 5 Oct. 2014
By A. Andrews - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This is a very thorough and informative book on inducing lactation for adoptive mothers and mothers through surrogacy. I found it easy to read and finished it in 2 days. I also like that I can bring this book with me to my doctor to talk about medications to be prescribed. Lots of information in this book without being too lengthy or overly complicated.

The most thorough guide to breastfeeding for adoptive parents. She includes great charts where she compares the Newman-Goldfarb protocol with other types of protocols for every situation, including herbal only protocols, pumping protocols etc. She also talks in great detail about transitions, bonding and types of manual expression. Very helpful for those of us attempting to breastfeed.
Non bio moms may also want to check out the FB group Adoptive Breastfeeding, which is very active, has lots of support and advice, and the author seems to frequent the forum. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Adoptive Families! 27 Oct. 2014
By Ecyela - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Great detail into how to breastfeed for adoptive families. I would recommend this a thousand times over. I would however note that amazon prints the book and it was not cut right so the bottom of my book had some pages longer than others. It didn't effect how it read though.
