Breaking the Girl is a dark standalone novel by M.C. Webb – my first read by this author and what a lasting impression I have. It was a rollercoaster of a read for me and I was completely and utterly captivated by it. There were some pretty dark moments and the author does warn that the story include scenes of rape so if this is a trigger then it is advisable not to read it but I will say that the way in which the author wrote about this was sensitive and well thought about.
It’s not often that I read such dark books but something about the synopsis made me want to read. I liked the story for its uniqueness. I’ve not read anything quite like it before which for made it a refreshing change. The author had a really great writing style which made the book effortless to read. The characters were deep and developed well over the story; I think being told from both of their POV helped me really understand both of them well.
At the beginning of the story Payton was homeless and desperate to make money. She see’s becoming a porn star as the only way she can to make a lot of money and fast. Her naivety leads her down this path and she believes the things that she is told. I really felt sorry for Payton, she had her reasons for doing this that are explained in the story and my heart truly broke for her. She was just absolutely desperate and could see no other way forward.
I think if we hadn’t have had some chapter from Axel’s POV I probably wouldn’t have liked him as much as I did – he was hard on Payton for many reasons and he only does what he does do in order to help her.
This really was a brilliant read and I enjoyed every minute of it. I will certainly be looking to read more by this author now and will definitely be recommending it!
Axel Stone is a famous porn star, he has a long list of films, he is one of the best in the industry, but after falling out of love with it he has now retired, but still ‘trains’ women for the industry, gets them camera ready, teaching them the ropes for thirty days. Everyone wants a woman trained by Axel as he is the best and therefore they are the best and make them the most money.
Payton Knight is homeless, broken and desperate, so when the opportunity arises to join the adult industry, she is on the first flight. She needs the money that this job must offer so is more than willing to spend thirty days with Axel Stone being trained, then she can earn the big bucks.
Payton has a big secret that she is not willing to share, and Axel is cold hearted, these two should not get along, but they do. Will lines be crossed? Will Axel’s heart melt? With Payton share her secret? Will the adult industry ruin her? Will they both have an experience that will change them?
M.C Webb has blown me away with this story, I felt bad for loving it. she has taken something so raw and horrid and turned it into something beautiful. From page one I was gripped, not sure what I was letting myself in for, but by page twenty I did not care, I needed to read this book! I love the characters in this book. Axel is hardened by life and now feels guilt that he keeps leading the lamb to slaughter, he has so many walls that no one can break, until Payton. Payton is a girl who is so desperate she will do anything; she is willing to put her feeling aside to do what she feels she must. I found both intriguing. It was a well written book, that I would recommend to everyone I see. Worth every star!
Wowzer this is my first novel I've read by M.C. Webb and I wasn't disappointed I read it all in one sitting I was that hooked. This novel will definitely keep you in your toes it's full of So many different emotions one minute I'm happy the next I'm in tears there are some sensitive issues in this novel but the way it's wrote it really will effect you so be prepared. It’s not a romantic sweet story no this novel is dark but it really is amazing it will keep you captivated I tell you it put me on one hell of a emotional roller-coaster but I would totally recommend jumping on its one of the best novels I've read so far this year!!
