Winner of two 2010 Emmy® Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Bryan Cranston and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad returns, hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "the best show on television."
Even though his cancer's in remission, chemistry teacher-turned-meth maker Walter White (Cranston) still can't catch a break. His wife (Anna Gunn) has filed for divorce, his DEA agent brother-in-law (Dean Norris) is out to bust him and a Mexican cartel just wants him dead. But with his family's future still at stake Walt cooks up a deal that will make him a fortune, a scheme with a terrible price.

Walter has now moved up the food chain and is working exclusively for the dead eyed Pollo, mass producing his crystal meth recipe in a purpose built laboratory.
Each episode is beautifully crafted, skilfully written, directed, filmed, edited and acted and even though I find the 2 female principles (wife & sister in law) a little grating I'm more than happy to forgive. I did find one episode (The Fly) a little slow but it was interesting in it's own way and the series picks up into a full on sprint soon after.
It's fascinating watching Walt juggle and adapt the changing relationships and pressures from Pollo, Jessie, his wife, In-laws, the Mexicans and his lawyer. There are some simply outstanding scenes as the plot twists and turns culminating in what I guarantee will be one of the most tense cliff hangers you'll have ever seen.
I'd love to speculate what will happen next but don't want to spoil a moment of what will be a genuine viewing pleasure.
If only other TV programs were half as good. Just brilliant. Order it.
Meanwhile, I agree with the other reviewers that Breaking Bad is criminally underrated, mainly because the British public hasn't been given the opportunity to see it. If it had been transmitted on BBC4 it would be more talked about than the Wire and held in at least as much esteem. In addition to being beautifully written, acted and shot, each season charts the ongoing progression of Walter from nerdy downtrodden chemistry teacher to hardened drug lord (possibly?). Walter intends to be a good father and provide for his family while we watch him (and his family) change as his priorities become more ruthless and his morals ebb imperceptibly away. The last episode of series three had me literally on the edge of my seat, shouting at the TV. And series 4 will be available from Amazon Germany in 2012.
Tip: it's cheaper to buy the set of Seasons 1-4 than it is to buy them individually. ENJOY!
Season 1 told of the spiral of Walt to protect his family and it had one of the most horrifically funny scenes ever shown on TV. Season 2 told the story of drug use and its effects. Again it had moments which wouldn't appear on other series and reached a conclusion that was as dramatic as anything that came before. So Season 3 has a lot to live up to. The drama though is quite amazing. There are so many moments in the first nine episodes which keep the pace, tension and shocks coming and high. Walt's relationships with all around him suffer as a result of his actions, Jesse still has the same self destruct tendencies. However, the wider cast are brought in a lot more here. Hank's story in the series is pivotal. The cartel and their influence brings so many shocks. Its quite relentless. There are so many mouth dropping twists and turns.
This pace does slacken when we get to Fly. However, the end of series is a cliffhanger (I have had to order the next season from amazon.de as I am not going to wait for Sony this time). The extras are fine enough but pale in comparison to the series.
In the great pantheon of US drama's many speak of The Wire, West Wing and others. Breaking Bad is in that league. This series is probably proof that its getting better and better.
