This album will slot nicely in on almost anyones collection.Coming from the much sampled stable of Blue Note, you'll recognise more than a few of the beats, riffs, and breaks from the world of hiphop. Cool is the only way to describe it. An album that is admired by friends of mine who would never dream of buying a jazz album. The mellow beats and infectious rhythms are enouugh to convert anyone. Buy this one, and you'll soon find yourself craving for more Jazz on your CD shelf.

This is one of the first groove compilations I bought off the blue note label, and it wasn't the last. The blue breakbeats comps bridge the gap between mainstream jazz and the soul/funk vein. Lots of punchy organ, riff-filled drumming and funky percussion. The best part is the theme: all the songs have been sampled at one time or another by various DJs, and the liner notes lay it out. All the songs pretty much have that Sunday morning comedown feel and they segue nicely into each other. Grant Green's "Sookie Sookie" and The Three Sounds' "Your Love is Too Much" are the high points of the jam. Recommended to the neophyte groover, definitely worth a peep.

I have been a lover of funk jazz for a while now and this cd reminds me why I like it so much. This is an ideal CD to sit back and chill out to, although some of the tracks deserve dedicated listening. The above reviews mention tracks by Grant Green which are excellent, fot me though the track "KUDU" hits the spot. The slow intoduction leads inot a nice lively and heavy bass line very nice indeed.
