Rowdy is a Sargeant on Delta watch in the Charleston Police Department. His story is best learnt as you go along but suffice to say he is down for no strings sex but nothing else. He doesn't want a relationship but he finds himself wanting Michelle.
Michelle was a 5'7'' list of things I couldn't have.
For two years Michelle has wanted Rowdy. She comes across initially as being really tough and bolshy but she is one of the loveliest heroines I have ever read and my heart hurt for her at times. She is loyal, kind and she is fighting to make her way in the world after experiencing something awful. Brave and courageous doesn't even begin to cover this woman's character. In her way she is as much a protector as Rowdy and when she steps up for one of the secondary characters she doesn't mince her words as she defends him from the cruelty and ignorance of others.
<I>"Don't you yell at him! Seriously, lady, you need yoga, a prescription and a big, hard-" </I>
She's also hilarious.Read more ›
My palms are sweaty.
My skin is tingling.
My soul is singing.
Everything inside me is on fire.
I am ridiculously happy. Floating high on a mighty blissful cloud of EPIC bookworm feels! I'm struggling to find words. I'm struggling to fully describe how perfect this story is. I don't know how to really make sense of all my feelings in a way where people will understand. I've read all of Kate Stewart’s books and this book is without doubt her best yet. The Brave Line is OUTSTANDING.
Everything about The Brave Line will just burn you to the core. It will cover every base, tick every single box and steal every part of your heart. I kid you not, you will FEEL IT ALL. There is no emotion you will not experience. When a book can be heart breaking but heart warming all at the same time you just know you've got yourself a winner.
The Brave Line follows Michelle and Rowdy. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing these two are as individuals AND together. Both are incredibly broken, heavily influenced by very different pasts. Yet they are sensational in every way possible.
Michelle was a surprise to me. I never expected a character with such depth. Michelle stole my heart, almost immediately. I didn't care that she wasn't always perfect. I didn't care that she had flaws and she wore them on her sleeve. I simply didn't care because to me, Kate wrote her in a way that was understandable. We follow Michelle, we learn her past, we learn her pain and it made me FEEL for her, love her.
I'm not sure where to begin with Rowdy. Everything I want to say about him would probably mean I was here until the end of time. I loved him that much. The guy attached himself onto my soul and wouldn't budge.Read more ›
I really loved this book and everything it was about and I mean everything. It has angst, love, fun, lust and you feel like you're in the story watching it evolve along with characters.
I found the whole storyline was done very well, I was in love with the highs and lows of the story. Omg Michelle, I haven't read about a heroine like her, she knew what she wanted, was sassy and a breathe of fresh air and we knew she wanted Rowdy, she gave without losing herself, because she wore her scars of her past.
Rowdy wanted Michelle just as much as she wanted him, but he denied himself or at least tried to, but one taste of carefree fun loving Michelle was enough, but his past, his job held him back, he'd seen enough heartbreak and heartache to know he had to protect himself and her.
Both Rowdy and Michelle's pasts are non talking points, but what starts as no string sex relationship grows into more between this cop and dispatcher.
I loved what brought the whole book alive and it wasn't just the two characters and their past, it was their lives, their jobs and everything in between, it was more than a great romance.
I was sad when it was over it, it was great writing from an author I haven't read before and it made want to read more because what this story teaches you is everyone has a brave line, no matter the circumstances.
