Academy Award-winning fairy tale from Pixar Studios. Headstrong tomboy and skilled archer Princess Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) is determined to break with tradition and carve out her own path in life. In defiance of her parents, King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), Merida flies in the face of an age-old custom held sacred by the three principal lords of the land, Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), Lord MacIntosh (Craig Ferguson) and Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Her actions lead to chaos in the kingdom, and it is now up to Merida not only to restore harmony in the land but to undo an ill-fated wish bestowed upon her by a wayward wise woman (Julie Walters). The feature won the Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for Best Animated Film.

Disney and Pixar team up yet again for another animated film that promises to entertain the young ones while offering up enough wit, humour and mature themes to keep the adults engaged. Brave isn't their best effort, but it deserves much more credit than it has been given, because it's a visually stimulating spectacle that offers up a traditional story mixed with a little new-age twist that reminds us why we trust Disney and Pixar to always deliver the goods, despite their Cars 2 fumble.
Brave is thoughtful and funny and it attacks its themes and morality without a hidden agenda or layered story. It's simple and to the point and not once does it try re-invent the formula that it's running with. It's your traditional princess coming-of-age story, wrapped with a modern twist that speaks to audiences now just as much as it spoke to audiences back when other Disney classics were released.
Kelly Macdonald provides her voice as the leading lady Merida and she creates a strong-willed and stubborn young girl on the cusp of childhood, leading into adulthood. She gives the character a much-needed strength that's still funny and easy going whenever she needs to be.Read more ›
I hate reading reviews that tell you what happened in the movies. it is like telling who done it in a murder mystery. so I will not tell anything and just let you find out for yourself what happens. I can only tell you that this is a grand masterpiece of animation, an animation at its best, a real beauty set in a fascinating time, a timeless tale It would carry us out of this world into a world full of wonder, beauty, a neverland. It is Magical.
For those who appreciate arts, watch the dresses carefully and compare them with the masterpiece paintings in art galleries. Also watch the facial expressions of the characters and compare them with the best actors and actresses in best acting movies.
One word of warning, do not leave until after the credits or you will miss out something.
It is such a joy and I already enquired about buying it on 3D bluray when it is available
The story is superb and no wonder the title is 'Brave' because Merida has to face an awful lot of quests to win back her Mother and her 3 young, triplet brothers.
The animation is great and the character's faces and mannerisms match the respective actors and actresses perfectly.
A great film for children and adults alike.

Great film to watch with my 2.5 year old daughter. Better than Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Better than Tangled, which is saying something.Published 12 days ago by Mr. K. D. Margett
