Have used a pair of GHD's a while ago, but these Braun ones in my opinion are better, lighter in weight and a doddle to use. Left with a good result too.
The only gripe I have is that no mat comes with them to place them on when hot. Ok so mat has to be purchased now just so there are no carpet burns. Would be a nice touch if one were included though.
The other thing only small and maybe an issue just for me, but when first using it I did not put my hand far enough down the straighter and each time I went to close it I kept on pressing the switch and the lock symbol kept appearing. Noticed this after a few times and put my hand further down and fingers then did not catch whilst using it.
On the positives though such a lot, it guides you through easily on how to use it. On first set up you have to just press the English language one then just follow the arrows as it guides you through the set up really easily. Never had anything like this before and did keep looking to see what it may say next. Even when you press for off (just hold the centre button for 2 seconds) it tells you it is cooling down and a nice little symbol.
I used the manual setting first and did a temperature of 160 whilst it was heating up (which was quicker than my previous ones) I applied my mascara and was then ready to use.
Light in weight to use and the flexible wire makes it really easy to use and twist about. You can even do loose curls or waves with this, I put a couple of loose curls my hair and so easy to do and better than the usual method I use of a brush and dryer curling and trying to get it right. With this it was done in no time at all. I do have coloured hair and some things tend to dry it out but these did not they actually left my fringe where I used it on looking quite shiny and healthy. No singe or burning smell, was a bit concerned but did not need to be with these when set stay at whatever temperature you set and adapt to what you want them to do.
You can set your own profile so if in a rush it is ready to go for your own personal setting, really useful if other members of the household use it too as you can store their settings too. Hair straighteners seem to have come a long way and this hi tech one with blue icons looks the top of the range in straighteners to me and not at the top end of the price brand either compared to the GHD's.
I will be using these from now on to do my fringe (rather than using brush and dryer) and also for creating loose curls, yes for me I love them. I know they are straighteners and for my fringe super but they are also good for creating waves and curls too. Not let other members of the family near them yet, but do know that mentions of them have been made so this weekend think they will be tested out a bit. Thankfully my setting is in there, so I am safe for next time.
Still, they're cheaper than a lot of straighteners and having seen the impact of the more expensive ones on friends and relatives, you certainly wouldn't regret having purchased these ones.
As for the build of the straighteners, I was impressed. They're well made and very light which is a huge bonus as after straightening for a long time your arms can start to ache! Because of the lightness they can feel a little plasticky and don't look quite as expensive as GHDs but I'd rather sacrifice some attractiveness for lightness.
The straighteners glide through the hair fairly smoothly and leave hair quite straight and shiny. I didn't find the results quite as good as GHDs, but it wasn't far off. I did note that they don't get quite as close to the roots/scalp as GHDs do which is a bit of a shame. As for curls, they are probably superior to other straighteners I've tried, and they produce nice soft waves, so they're definitely worth considering if you like curls.
I do think that the lack of a heat mat or bag is a bit of an oversight, and it can be annoying, especially as the straighteners have curved edges that mean they can't really be placed anywhere without rolling over.
For this price I think the straighteners are good value and worth considering as an alternative to more popular, more expensive brands.
As far as the whole sensocare thing goes, we really couldn't work out what it adds to the process.
Straighteners get hot, you straighten your hair. The sensocare intelligent sensor thing seems like a bit of a gimmick, tbh.
As a set of straighteners, they are great. Gets the job done. But as is the case with so many beauty products, pointless extras have been added as an extra selling point.
