As the signal is digital, I knew there would be no degrading of the signal, but was still mightily impressed by the picture quality displayed on my HD TV.
As there is no switch on the splitter, it 'auto senses' the signal, giving priority to channel 1. Therefore, advice I would give is to insert your Sky HD (or equivalent) HDMI cable into port 2, and your games console HDMI into port 1. This is so that when the console is turned on, it will automatically swith to disply on TV, and once the console is turned off, your TV is displayed as before.
I can't give this cheap item any better praise, dont let the cheap price put you off, it is a high quality item.
Works perfectly. This is a push button model with no remote, but for the price, it's a steal.
It is extremely cheap and works a treat, I couldn't recommend it more.
Absolutely no setup, short of plugging HDMI cables. The remote control works a treat and switches inputs without any issues.
I don't usually send feedback on stuff I have bought however this is such a neat piece of kit I thought I would write this review.
In short don't waste your money on more expensive splitters, buy this and you really won't be disappointed.
A word of warning though, you will also need to purchase another HDMI lead to connect the splitter to the TV. What you get here is just the splitter. This was not clear when I made the purchase, and once I received the splitter I had to place another order for an HDMI cable so that I could actually use it. Its a bit like buying a TV and then having to purchase a power lead to plug it in. This is why I only gave this product 4 stars instead of 5.
Once the unit was connected to SKYHD, the PS3 and the TV, a little led light came on and it started to work (I beleive that it is powered through the HDMI leads). There is also a socket in the splitter to connect a poewer supply if needed (another purchase required).
Overall a great product for the money though and I would recommend it.
Whilst the DVD worked fine through the switch, the SKY box gave me video but no sound and the display changed from hdmi to dvi. I tried every combination of ports and leads and tried resetting every device but the problem persisted.
Assuming the switch was faulty, I emailed the help link in the paperwork that accompanied my order. Credit where it's due, I received a prompt reply explaining that the fault was not with the switch, but with hdcp (high definition copy protection) on certain devices. I was also offered a full refund.
So top marks for customer service, but it's a shame that companies don't explain about such compatibility problems and provide a lookup list of devices which, due to hdcp, render this switch non-functional.
If anyone knows of an hdmi switch capable of working with my setup, I would be most grateful if you would leave a comment here. Many thanks!
ADDENDUM: Just purchased the Logik 4-port hdmi switch from Currys for £19-50p and it works perfectly with my SKY HD box, so problem solved!
