Product Description

Review

Teachers, students and parents - everyone needs a copy of this book. It is quirky in its style making it an easy and compelling read. As well as giving guidance on how your brain works to revising and taking examinations, there are loads of informative and interesting facts that keep you hooked from start to finish. Not only will I be recommending this to other teachers to use to support their delivery of revision lessons, I will be recommending this as a text to be used alongside a PSHE programme. Parents would also be encouraged to buy this, with a highlighter pen for their children as individuals are able to go through this book and analyse themselves, answering questions and filling in gaps and then be given great guidance and suggestions on what to do next or questions to ask themselves. A great book on so many levels - pure genius! --Ruth Digby, Kings Langley School

It's definitely a book to pick up and jump into, rather than one to be read from cover to cover; and it's also a book that will be returned to time and time again. I loved it, and I will be buying copies for all the teenagers I know who are approaching exams and dealing with a lot of life as well. That'll be all of them! --Linda McQuone, Deputy Head Teacher at Pebworth First and Blackminster Middle Schools Federation

In my time I've seen lots of books that claim to help students to think positive, and even more that claim to be a revision guide for a particular subject, but I've never seen a book quite like this. It's a zippy, catchy, funny romp through how your brain works, how you learn and how to make the most of your chances. The book is probably aimed at students between about 14 and 17, although my 12-year-old has thoroughly enjoyed it and been able to put a number of the ideas and suggestions into practice.
I heartily recommend this book for students, parents and possibly even teachers who want a fresh and realistic look at study skills in their widest sense.

I have been involved in educating, tutoring and writing for the last twelve years, and have read an awful lot of dull, unimaginative and predictable articles on how to work, revise and learn. Yet this book is very, very different. For a start, it is laugh-out-loud funny - try dancing lying down as a stress buster! Secondly, it is interactive, so you can fill in quizzes, answer questions and make doodles as you go along... My only criticism is that students might feel daunted by its' thickness, but I soon realised that rather than being dense text, it is laid out spaciously so can be read and digested with ease. I think it can reach a remarkable range of students and it will certainly give teachers lots of good ideas for how to make learning fun and accessible. I can't imagine anyone reading even a few pages of this book without finding a stack of handy tips for life in general... Buy it!

A really excellent book. Just what a teenager needs to plan and understand learning and exam technique. Tim, the Co author, did a presentation at my son's school a few months ago and was very impressive. Buy this book!
