As for the leads? Well, though the tale was told both in the present and in flashback, I never really felt as if I got to know them. Neither their present not their past had any real depth, and yes, we got told about Memphis's cancer, but we didn't get to experience what he went through, and were simply told in brief words in the present, about how he'd coped. Tyler, I knew had black hair, but for the life of me, I can't fathom what Memphis looked like, and even if he was Caucasian, Black/Asian, or other, not that I'd have been bothered about any race, but the author simply gave us his name and moved on. We know he's a model and is therefore pretty good-looking and he's into pushing himself with extreme activities, so he's built...but that's all I got of him. We know Tyler was heartbroken by two losses, but we did not get to learn about him, even when Memphis accused him of being too needy and that he'd made the latter his entire world, which Memphis had found claustrophobic, and which was partly to blame for their break-up.
Did the tale end in a HEA? Unsure, as the author dropped in a not-unexpected bombshell about 5 pages from the end, introduced the next co-lead of the (possibly) last tale in the series, and pretty much ended the tale here. There was no deep conversation, no 'this is what happens', etc, which for these leads' past, was totally anticlimactic for me. I needed closure. I needed promises. I needed a HEA and a glimpse into their future, which was still uncertain. Yes, no doubt both this pair of leads and Alec and Dylan will appear in Noah's tale, but that's not going to be quite enough for me, or, I suspect, for other readers.
In summary, this was too 'lite' on all of the important details - including what should have been full-on, frequent, loving, sexy, descriptive, hot and dirty healing sex - for it to be a Keeper.
Thankfully Memphis was a sweetie from the start and together they worked their way into my heart.
I'm looking forward now to Noah's story and seeing if he's going to risk his heart again.
