About the Author

Martyn Harvey was born in Plymouth, Devon in 1963 and grew up in Penzance, Cornwall. Aged 10-and-a-bit, he won his primary school's award for creative writing, which came with a little 3-inch silver-plated cup on a cheap black plastic plinth. Disappointed when he realised he had to return the cup at the end of the school year, Martyn abandoned his literary ambitions and kept his talents hidden for nearly 45 years. He studied music, violin and piano, obtaining a Masters Degree in 20th Century Composition from Hudderfield University before getting dragged reluctantly into the business world to work as a computer programmer, web developer and entrepreneur. Eventually, aged 50-ish, he realised he was never really any good at these things and decided, instead, to start writing silly stories and poems for his daughters, who were quite entertained by them: And besides - it was much more fun! Martyn's first published book "The Boy with the Saucepan Hat" (2019) is the first title to make it onto the printer's press...but it is just the tip of the iceberg: With dozens of similar stories in both narrative humorous verse and traditional novel format already penned, he is now working night and day to bring his illustrations and text together in exciting little paperback books, for the enjoyment of children of all ages. Martyn Harvey is based in Ramsgate in Kent and spends a lot of time on the Wirral and whenever he gets a chance, in his childhood home, Penzance in Cornwall, England.
