Product description

Product Description

Air your tunes - Zeppelin Air Stream your music with AirPlay®

Zeppelin Air is the ultimate wireless AirPlay® speaker with Lightning connector. It features Apple's AirPlay technology for high-quality wireless streaming from iTunes® or an iOS device

Active 2.1 System - Zeppelin Air is a fully active 2.1 design. All five drive units are individually driven by dedicated audiophile class D amplifiers, specially designed for Bowers & Wilkins. The up-rated 4x25 Watts 1 x 50 Watts output powers the improved drive units for increased precision, seamless integration and impressive levels of bass attack

Advanced Audio - Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin™ re-wrote the rules for iPod® speaker docks. Now Zeppelin Air provides another seismic shift in audio performance. It retains the original's classic shape, but internally Zeppelin Air has been completely redesigned. The result is the best sounding iPod speaker ever produced. Compared to the original multi-award winning Zeppelin it has improved dynamics, punchier bass, and a more open, lifelike presentation with a highly detailed, room-filling sound

Digital Sound Processing - Zeppelin Air's proprietary Bowers & Wilkins Digital Signal Processing (DSP) using double-precision processing and in-house algorithms optimises drive unit control. Simply put, this means Zeppelin Air performs like a considerably larger loudspeaker and produces room filling, controlled bass no matter how loud you like your music

Sound dispersion - The original Zeppelin's unique shape was designed to help sound dispersion. Zeppelin Air retains that shape, but now features smaller mid-range drive units to help the sound dispersion even further. This produces a more open, natural sound than has yet been heard on a dedicated iPod speaker. Combined with the same tweeters as the award-winning MM-1 computer speakers, Zeppelin Air delivers an incredibly detailed, wide, room filling performance.

Audiophile DAC - In the digital world, the Digital to Analogue Converters (DAC) are vital for getting the best from high-quality drive units. On Zeppelin Air all inputs are up-sampled through the audiophile-quality 96kHz/24bit DAC, including wireless music using AirPlay®. This has the effect of lowering distortion, creating a smoother sound. There's also the option for studio quality 24bit audio via the optical input.

Flowport TM - Flowport is a feature of the flagship 800 Series Diamond. It minimises turbulence in the same way as a golf ball. Dimples on the surface generate tiny eddy currents over which air can flow smoothly, reducing turbulence, and improving performance. This is because if turbulence occurs as the air moves in and out of the port, you'll hear extraneous noise and, as you turn the volume up, the bass won't be as tight and well timed as it should be

Digital Connection - Every track on your iPod® is made up of digital information. For your music to sound as good as it can be, you need to preserve as much of that information as possible. With most iPod speakers the music is taken in analogue format from the iPod. When that happens, you risk losing some of this precious data. Zeppelin Air has a USB digital connection, keeping the purity of the digital signal - and your music - intact, for the best possible performance.

Dynamic Range - Zeppelin Air's new curved black back panel is more than a design statement. Constructed from Glass fibre filled ABS, it is stiffer than the one found on the original Zeppelin. As with any loudspeaker, the stiffness and rigidity of the enclosure is vital to the performance. It provides the drive units with a solid platform to do their work, and combines with other key audio features such the up-rated amplification and advanced Digital Signal Processing to provide improved dynamic range.

Room-filling sound

The elongated shape isn’t just for show. Having drive units as far apart as possible helps Zeppelin Air fill the room with a more open, natural sound. Add in custom-designed mid-range drive units and high-quality tweeters, and the result is a spacious yet subtle performance.

I wanted a quality airplay speaker and bought a bose sound touch 20. The music at home seemed a bit harsh and compact. It seemed the music is trapped in the box and cant fully come out. Then a friend of mine told me about his zeppelin air and I gave it a try. Also compared it with a5 and a7 in two stores. The sharpness and crispness of the sound in zeppelin was better than all of them. I think it is hard to spread the sound in those boxy shape compact designs. I bought the zeppelin air and compare it to my bose for a week. I have also showed the differences to some of my friends and they all agreed to the differences and better quality of zeppelin.
I returned the bose and kept the zeppelin air.
The only problem is the sound of both of them seems a bit mono. Wished I could buy another pair to make a stereo airplay. I will probably buy the second one someday.
The connectivity is seamless comparing to bose which had a bit of lag. I had to reset bose 3 times in 2 weeks but zeppelin is fine.

I cannot rate this product highly enough. Have had a small Bose for 5 years before it died and this was the replacement, recommended by a HI FI enthusiast. I had never heard of these before then. What a well kept secret. Fantastic sound quality with better depth, base and volume than the Bose, and easy to set up for AirPlay with Apple devices ( with lightening connector). Build quality excellent. Looks amazing. Remote works well. Best thing I've bought this year! Arrived super well packaged the next day on Prime.

Downloaded the B&W Control app onto my iPhone, and within minutes the Zeppelin Air was WiFi connected. Didn't fine it dropping the WiFi signal at all. Looks great, music quality is amazing. Fills the room very well.

I bought this for myself as a Christmas present. It worked perfectly straight out of the box and looks super cool. The sound is great and it works with all iPods and iPads that we have. A bit pricey but worth it.

For it's size, the Zeppelin provides superb sound quality. I used to have the previous version which had the 32 pin connector. I'm loving the convenience of the Air - can play from a multitude of sources (including iTunes on my PC). Quite simply, brilliant!

Speakers arrived promptly and were easy to set up for use via AirPlay on home wifi network. Sound is very good. Remote control is rather small and fiddly but not really needed as music is more conveniently controlled via your mobile device - iPhones & iPads tested all worked perfectly though there is a short lag after connecting before music stream begins (several seconds). Ideal to use with a playlist therefore. Overall I'm very happy with this product.

Had a Zeppelin for a couple of years now and still can't find another dock with AirPlay to compete with the superb sound quality. The design blends with any room design and displays absolute quality. So good, I've just bought a second Zeppelin for another room.
