From the manufacturer
Big sound from a small space
C5 Series 2 takes in-ear sound quality to new heights. From Bowers & Wilkins, British makers of award-winning speakers since 1966, found in the world's best studios, including Abbey Road.
In-ear headphones that sound better
True sound, zero distractions
C5 Series 2 takes in-ear sound quality to new heights, thanks to its combination of subtle improvements in small-scale drive unit technology and its Secure Loop design which keeps the headphones snugly and securely in your ears.
New high-definition drive units
Featuring a redesigned 9.2mm dynamic driver, these headphones provide high definition sound, full-range audio clarity and rich bass that’s powerful yet controlled, resulting in a more natural, open and detailed sound.
When it comes to in-ear headphones, nothing messes with sound quality like a loose fit. C5 Series 2 stays put thanks to its Secure Loop design. Cushioned loops expand to fit inside the rim of your ears, holding the earphones firmly in place.
Micro Porous Filter
C5 Series 2, uniquely for in-ear headphones, features a Micro Porous Filter on the outside face. Tiny steel balls act as a sonic diffuser, enhancing clarity and making music feel spacious and detailed rather like "open backed" hi-fi headphones, yet without leaking your audio to the outside world.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
I've noticed the same issues tend to crop up, so this is more of an amateur FYI than a review - with the enphasis on "amateur." They have a unique loop and weighting system that means once they are in your ears they do not budge - vital for me as I walk everywhere and this was always a problem for me. It can feel very odd at first and you really need to do some fiddling about to get the loop fitted comfortably. I've found the best way is to pull the loop as tight as possible, place the buds in your ears then expand the loop simply by pushing upwards holding above the connection point with the cable. You may need to rotate the buds slightly; I find they sit most comfortably rotated slightly inwards. However, if you really can't get on with the loop don't despair - just unhook it. The weighting system will still hold them comfortably in your ears.
They come with five sizes of silicon buds and you'll know you have the right size because the bass will rattle your brain. However, my ears simply refuse to fit the standard silicon buds at any size so I use memory foam earbuds from Earphones Plus through here (search "memory foam earbuds" and there is a full review on there.) These aren't expensive and I get the perfect seal with them so job dun.
Some reviewersfind these bass-heavy, and the bass IS killer. But its clean with no booming or distortion (even with the punk and aggrotech I play at horrendous volume) and if you do find it too much just change the settings on your device, particularly if you have a previous bass boost setting to get any low end at all out of cheap 'phones. The equalisation is different depending on whether you are in or outside, so again, play with settings until you get what you want.
I never had the cable noise problem reported in the S1 version but from reviews this seems to have been resolved anyway. The cables have been improved and are much more robust; my only quibbles are tiny - the iDevice switch is small and fiddly and at this price point I'd hope for an L-shaped jack, not the straight jack covered in shiny plastic which means you can end up pulling on the cable. Not a problem for me as they're always connected, but if you do unplug regularly be aware of this.
Now - the really good bit, and props to B&W for this. In-ear phones have a finite life and repairs are not cost effective. However, when these die, B&W replace at huge discount after the warranty has expired - ring them and a new pair is sent within a day. They ask you to send back the old ones but that is reasonable as they are replacing at way below RRP. I've done this twice after running old ones into the ground and B&W are bang on the mark with this. I approve mightily, and its encouraging to see they recognise the longevity of in-ears is limited so have set up an excellent compromise for maintaining customer loyalty. Thank god, because having used these I don't think I could bear to go back to cheapies. (This is accurate as of early 2015 when I last contacted them.)
So. In summary. Accoustic perfection, great customer service and a built-in "fix" for replacement. 10/10, me happy bunny. Or chicken.
Hope you find this useful. And no, I have no affiliation - just a long-term, VERY happy customer.
I had to return them as wearing them for only 15 minutes made my ears hurt.
