Product Description

The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.

Bonus Features:

  • Feature Commentary with Director/Co-Writer Tony Gilroy, Co-Writer Dan Gilroy, Editor John Gilroy, Director of Photography Robert Elswit, Second Unit Director Dan Bradley, and Production Designer Kevin Thompson
  • Deleted Scenes: Pennsylvania Highway, NRAG Research Room, Washington, D.C.
  • Re-Bourne
  • Enter Aaron Cross
  • Crossing Continents: Legacy on Location
  • Man vs Wolf
  • Wolf Sequence Test
  • Moving Targets: Aaron and Marta
  • Capturing Chaos: The Motorbike Chase

This is not meant to be an extension to the Matt Damon franchise and doesn't try to be. It is very good in it's own right and has to be viewed as a stand-alone, parallel story that uses references to the on-going Bourne saga to place it in context. Very well paced and filled with detail, it should more than satisfy any follower of the 'Bourne' trilogy and makes a worthwhile addition to the series, adding a little more meat to the hard-crunched bones of the main story. It probably deserves a sequel all of its' own....

As of April 2017, this is how (as far as I'm concerned) the Bourne movie series currently ends. (The latest Matt Damon/Bourne movie was dire)

This is a movie that stands on its own merit. Can be enjoyed without any knowledge of the previous movies - but ties in neatly with the Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum movie arc. There are a few familiar background faces from the first 3 movies here as well - but the whole premise of Legacy is that the Treadstone and Blackbriar programs were only the beginning. There are at least two other programs as revealed in this movie - and possibly many more!

If the Bourne movies are to continue as an ongoing series - they really need to focus more upon Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) as Legacy feels so much more fresher for the new face/main character and the mystery of his past. (Not to mention where he's going.)

Definitely worth watching!

When it was announced that Matt Damon would be leaving the Bourne series, and wasn't really interested in seeing anymore entries in the series. Therefore I never watched The Bourne Legacy in the cinema, but when I saw it on offer on DVD I decided to give it a chance.

While not in the league of the previous movies, it is still a decent entry to the series, with a decent performance by Jeremy Renner and a really good performance from Rachel Weisz.

Wasn't sure what to expect after the original series of films which I loved, but it was very enjoyable and fun to watch. I hope there's a sequel.

A great editon to the Bourne series of films.
new character carries the story forward, and a great lead in Jeremy Renner, he really fits the bill.
Look forward to any other he does in this series.
