Product description

From the Author

While attending a course in Dublin on how to write a Mills & Boon facilitated by Mills & Boon authors and editors, I was challenged to write a first line. A little voice in my head whispered, ‘you can bite me if you want to’ and the idea of two people tied together in the dark took form. The line didn’t make it into the final version of the book, but acted as my inspiration.

When I discovered the ancient Rameses Bracelets, made of gold and lapis lazuli, and a New York jeweller who specialises in replicating ancient artefacts, Tempest MacKenzie came to life.

Love at first sight? Well it does exist in books and this novel should not be derided for setting up an ideal. Tempest Mackenzie is a jewellery designer who is reckless and impulsive. We can see this when she rushes to the aid of a handsome stranger who is being kidnapped. Once thrown together they are now linked together until the mastermind behind the kidnapping is caught.

There is a steady pace throughout the book as they escape from the kidnappers and travel by helicopter to Tempest's sisters home. The plan is to catch the kidnappers when they steal a valuable artefact, the escape and the dramatic rescue and ending. Although Jake is shown to be a family man, in his concern for his mother and his grandfather, the most striking feature of his character, is his libido. I guess this is a requirement in a romance novel, but it is a little wearing after a time. The saving grace for this book, is that it is not overly explicit.

The language is generally functional rather than poetic, with a good use of dialogue and plenty of action to keep the story moving forward. I would have liked a little more character development, but overall it's a nice, interesting read.

Unrelenting you are launched headlong into the plot. You are swept along with the intensity of the passion between the two leading characters each with psychological complexities that makes them guarded but unable to stop their connection. A good read, a good story & definitely going to get more work from this author

The two protagonists are well drawn. Jake very much appeals to me, being tall, dark, gorgeous and combining assertiveness with a sweet vulnerability. Tempest is the aptly-named heroine who does not sit around waiting for a rescue but does her own fair share of rescuing others. I read this through in a couple of sittings, cheering Tempest and Jake on through non-stop adventure and passion. Bound to Love is a real page-turner which will not disappoint any modern romance reader!

Embrace Books are a new imprint of Salt Publishing, and I've been really impressed with what I've seen so far. If Sally's book is indicative of their titles, I for one will be a big fan. I really love their covers too, not your usual romance covers, and Sally's is a great example.

If you want a thrilling and romantic read for Valentine's day, I do recommend Bound to Love.

I love a simple girly romance as much as everyone, but Bound to Love was something more. It had me gripped from the beginning. I won't give it away, but I meant to have a quick read and ended up having one of those can't-put-it-down-oops-I-forgot-to-put-dinner-on moments. My children have been ignored for the last two days whilst I've been reading. Looking forward to more from Sally Clements and Embrace Books!
