This book was recommended by a friend who has never yet recommended a book I didn't like so I had a good feeling about this and I have to say it was even more than I expected in fact I think I liked it even more than she did.
Aria is fifteen years old when she becomes engaged to a man she's never met, Luca Vitiello the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra, the engagement is a effort to bind the families and unite them against the outside threat of the Bratva and the Triad.
Luca is a frightening man, the fact that he killed his first man when he was just eleven and apparently his name 'the vice' comes from him crushing a mans throat with his bare hands all enhances his image amongst men and certain women but it doesn't do a lot to make Aria feel any happier about the marriage.
We automatically sympathise with Aria but it soon becomes apparent that neither her or Luca had a choice in this, this is the life they were born into and the only escape is death and that's the strength of this book and what I loved so much they're both put into a situation not of their own choosing and it could so easily go bad but it's up to them to make it work and I loved this book, all of it, even the bits I didn't like because it all added to the big picture.
While I loved this book and it's getting 5 stars the only thing which could possibly have made it any better would have been dual POV's but then I shouldn't be greedy.
I'm starting the next book 'Bound by Duty' as soon as I've finished this and I just hope it lives up to my expectations, which are now very high.

I love a good mafia story. Hot, arrogant, alpha male with intelligence and a dollop of bad boy thrown in. This was one of the best I've read and I look forward to the rest in the series.
Aria is a sheltered 15 year old girl whose mafia affiliated father tells her that she has been promised to the future head of the New York family to create peace between them. She's under no illusions of the type of men in the family and knows that her marriage will be full of heartache, pain and fear.
Luca is 5 years her senior and a ruthless killer, womaniser and shows no emotion. After her 18th birthday they are married and Aria is moved away from her family to a place filled with loneliness and a gilded cage.
At first everything seems hopeless and Aria seems destined to be miserable and isolated but slowly she begins to see pieces of the real Luca and the woman she becomes when she's with him.
Their romance is a slow burn with all of the insecurities and misunderstanding of new relationships. The sex scenes grow in intensity and are well written (I kept thinking that Luca should write a textbook on his knowledge of seducing a virgin!).
I hope we get to read more about Aria and Luca in the next book as I liked them both so much.
Definitely worth reading, especially as it's free at the moment, but I would happily have paid for it and will be getting the rest of the series.

This book had me on the edge of my seat it is Luca' s and Aira's story it starts when she is 15 the two mafia families need to join to be strong against the Russian mafia so their fathers say they have to marry Aria is a virgin Luca definitely isn't he is number 2 in his family they are forced to get engaged be married on her 18th birthday
They marry does she give up her virginity on her wedding night or does Luca not want to force himself on her so they create a story. Arie is possessive of her heart and feelings for Luca does she run from him or stay with him I will let you read and find out the ending is absolutely brilliant loved it one of my favourites ...there is blood gore and great sex.
If you don't like mafia type books with violence don't read it but I found it absolutely bloody brilliant..
The author Cora is brilliant at telling this story can't wait for the rest of the book's

I have been in a book funk, for nearly a month. Everything I have read has been meh! But then I stumbled on this little gem. Oh my I am glad I did, I found it realistic no insta love , a violent and unapologetic male. I like my books to have steamy sex parts in them, but as late they are so typical and boring I end up skipping. Not with this book the sex scenes had purpose, and where done beautifully. In whole this is a fascinating, gripping and romantic read I can't recommend it enough. And I certainly can't wait for the other books in this series.

EVERYONE DEBATING WHETHER TO TRY THIS BOOK, READ IT, YOU WONT REGRET IT!! I picked up this book when I was in a bit of a rut, and it surpassed all expectations. Cora Reilly is my new favourite author! My favourite thing was that there was no insta love, like many other books of this genre. Aria and Luca's relationship felt real despite the Mafia element, while many people say they didn't like what Luca did, personally, while its never a good thing, It fitted in with how little they truley knew/liked each other. What made this book a 5 rather than a 4 was Cora Reilly's secondary characters, the story of Luca and Aria is brilliant however the other characters made it. I can't wait for Gianna and Liliana's stories! (I hope we still see Luca and Aria in them) now I'm off to read book two.
